Wisner-Pilger 4-1 in last five matches

The Wisner-Pilger Gators went 3-1 in the East Husker Conference Tournament on Thursday and Saturday, and topped Twin River 3-0 on the road Tuesday.

Wisner-Pilger defeated Scribner-Snyder 2-0 and lost 2-0 to Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family on Thursday before beating Tekamah-Herman and West Point-Beemer 2-0 on Saturday.

The Gators downed the Trojans 25-17 in set one, and 25-11 in set two.

Sydney Bradfield and Tessa Ruskamp notched 7 kills apiece while Sydney Williams had 14 set assists.

Wisner-Pilger fell 25-21 in set one to Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family, and dropped set two 25-14.

Williams finished with 12 set assists.

The Gators downed the Tigers 25-14 in set one, and 25-22 in set two.

Bailey Batenhorst notched 9 kills while Williams totaled 15 set assists.

Wisner-Pilger knocked off the Cadets in set one 25-18, and took set two 25-14.

Batenhorst totaled 8 kills while Smyth recorded 7 digs. Williams dished out 14 set assists.

The Gators defeated the Titans 25-14 in set one, 25-16 in set two, and 25-13 in set three.

Batenhorst had 11 kills while Bradfield and Smyth totaled 8 kills and 9 digs apiece. Williams registered 24 set assists.

With the exception of the Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family match, Wisner-Pilger has played at a very high level lately.

The Gators (22-6) battle Logan View and Scribner-Snyder (3-23) at the Wisner-Pilger Triangular on Thursday.

The Raiders lost 2-0 to Stanton, Bancroft-Rosalie, and Pender at last week's East Husker Conference Tournament while the Trojans lost 2-1 to Clarkson/Leigh and 2-0 to Wisner-Pilger on Thursday, also at the East Husker Conference Tournament, before beating Madison 2-0 and losing 2-1 to Pender at the tournament on Saturday. Scribner-Snyder fell 2-0 to Tekamah-Herman and Fremont Bergan at the Scribner-Snyder Triangular on Tuesday.

The Gators should be able to pick up two easy wins on Thursday. I don't see either match going a third set. I anticipate Wisner-Pilger will take care of Logan View and Scribner-Snyder in two sets.

These are matches where I think the Gators can afford to get a lot of girls in and rest the starters some. Wisner-Pilger needs to stay sharp, but resting some starters at the end of each match isn't the worst idea.

The Gators need to gear up for a big postseason run, and players need to be as fresh as possible for sub districts, which are right around the corner.

Wisner-Pilger needs to come out and take care of business early, and dominate from the onset. There can't be any doubt as to what the Gators need to do.

Wisner-Pilger needs to play at a high level in both matches to keep the positive momentum going.

The Gators have had a very fine season, and wins over Scribner-Snyder and Logan View would only add to their impressive resume.

These matches are important as any for Wisner-Pilger, and the Gators' play needs to reflect that.
