Lyons-Decatur Northeast finishes East Husker Conference Tournament 3-1
The Lyons-Decatur Northeast Cougars won three times and lost once in the East Husker Conference Tournament last week.
Lyons-Decatur Northeast fell 2-0 to West Point-Beemer on Thursday, losing set one 25-14 and set two 25-10.
Kelly Wakeley had 10 digs for the Cougars.
Lyons-Decatur Northeast swept Madison 2-0, also on Thursday, taking set one 25-14, and set two 25-13.
Maddie Ronnfeldt finished with 7 kills while Wakeley had 8 digs. Lexie Bacon totaled 14 set assists.
The Cougars swept Bancroft-Rosalie 2-0 on Saturday, taking set one 25-17, and set two 25-21.
Ronnfeldt, Wakeley, and Abby Peterson notched 11, 9, and 8 digs respectively while Bacon registered 7 digs and 13 set assists.
Lyons-Decatur Northeast defeated Clarkson-Leigh 2-0 on Saturday, winning set one 25-20 and set two 25-16.
Wakeley finished with 11 kills and 7 digs while Ronnfeldt totaled 7 kills and 11 digs. Brandi Simonsen had 10 digs while Bacon compiled 18 set assists.
The Cougars played pretty good volleyball in the tournament. Lyons-Decatur Northeast certainly wishes they could have won their first match, but I'm sure the Cougars will gladly take the consolation wins.
Lyons-Decatur Northeast (14-15) travels to Pender on Tuesday in their only match this week.
The Pendragons lost 2-0 to Oakland-Craig and Twin River on Thursday in the East Husker Conference Tournament, and beat Scribner-Snyder 2-1 on Saturday.
Given the way both teams are playing right now the Cougars should be able to win this match.
I look for Lyons-Decatur Northeast to come out with fire and establish themselves early.
I'm sure the Cougars would love to pick up right where they left off in the East Husker Conference Tournament, and I think Lyons-Decatur Northeast has a good chance of doing that.
Wakeley, Bacon, Ronnfeldt, and others need to play well for the Cougars. It's important for Lyons-Decatur Northeast to play well as a team for the entire match.
The Cougars only have two matches left in the regular season so it's important for Lyons-Decatur Northeast to play well to build for sub districts.
This is a must win match for the Cougars. Lyons-Decatur Northeast can't afford to slip up against Pender. Not with the way the Cougars are playing right now.
Lyons-Decatur Northeast is playing good volleyball, and needs to continue to play at a high level in preparation for the postseason.
I look for the Cougars to get the job done and take care of business on Tuesday. I don't think the Pendragons will quite have enough to beat Lyons-Decatur Northeast.
