North Bend Central goes 3-1 in East Husker Conference Tournament

The North Bend Central Tigers had a solid showing at the East Husker Conference Tournament Thursday and Saturday, beating Madison and West Point-Beemer 2-0 on Thursday before taking out Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family in two sets and falling 3-1 to Stanton on Saturday.

North Bend Central defeated the Dragons 25-7 in set one, and 25-12 in set two.

Brooke Fredrickson and Allison Lux recorded 7 kills apiece while Kaitlyn Bjorklund and Noelle White registered 9 and 7 set assists, respectively.

The Tigers downed the Cadets 25-12 in set one, and won set two 25-17.

Kristin Lux led the way with 8 kills. Bjorklund totaled 8 set assists while White notched 7.

North Bend Central took set one from Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family 25-18, and won set two 25-10.

Kristin Lux finished with 8 kills while Bjorklund and White posted 9 and 7 set assists, respectively.

The Mustangs won set one 25-23 before taking set two 25-17. The Tigers earned a 25-18 set three win before Stanton closed out the match with a 25-20 set four victory.

North Bend Central played pretty good volleyball in this tournament. The Tigers came up short of winning the entire thing, but got to the championship match pretty easily, and that's definitely something to be proud of and build off of.

North Bend Central (20-4) takes on Howells-Dodge (17-8) on the road Tuesday.

The Jaguars went 2-2 in the East Husker Conference Tournament, downing Twin River and Oakland-Craig 2-0 on Thursday before losing 2-0 to Stanton and 2-1 to Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family on Saturday.

The Tigers should be able to win, although Howells-Dodge has been tough at home.

The Jaguars have Oakland-Craig's number somehow, and have played well against some of the tougher teams on their schedule.

At the same time Howells-Dodge hasn't played as well in other matches and has struggled against certain teams.

The Jaguars have been fairly inconsistent the entire season while North Bend Central has been real consistent throughout the year.

I think this match has the potential to go five sets, but I don't see the Tigers losing. I think North Bend Central is too good a team to lose to Howells-Dodge.

The Tigers are a C-1 team while the Jaguars are in D-1 so this is a match North Bend Central should win.

I'm sure the Tigers are no doubt disappointed about the outcome of the East Husker Conference Championship match, but nothing can be done about it now.

North Bend Central has to simply move on and try to pick up a win on Tuesday.

A win over Howells-Dodge would be a good win for the Tigers.
