Howells-Dodge sweeps Tekamah-Herman

The Howells-Dodge Jaguars kept things rolling with a 3-0 home sweep of Tekamah-Herman on Thursday.

Howells-Dodge took set one 25-20, and won sets two and three 25-19.

Kalli Brester finished with 12 kills and 8 blocks while Sam Brester finished with 9 kills and 7 blocks. Haley Eikmeier notched 7 blocks while Macey Kulhanek and Mallory Rolf totaled 11 and 7 digs, respectively. Shelby Hegemann added 14 set assists while Tessa Brester recorded 8.

The Jaguars showed no ill effects from their big win over North Bend Central on Tuesday. Howells-Dodge was focused and determined against the Tigers, and it showed.

The Jaguars (19-8) take on West Point-Beemer (13-13) and Pender at the West Point-Beemer Triangular on Tuesday.

The Pendragons were in action on Monday against Clarkson/Leigh while the Cadets beat Boone Central/Newman Grove 3-1 on Tuesday of last week.

Howells-Dodge has to show up and play outstanding volleyball, but if they do that I feel they have a good chance to be successful.

The Jaguars had a good week last week, and I look for this week to be another successful one for Howells-Dodge.

It will be interesting to see if the Jaguars can gain some consistency this week.

Howells-Dodge has been on most of the time this year, but there have been times the Jaguars have struggled. Howells-Dodge needs to play well on Tuesday to give themselves the confidence to succeed in the postseason.

Both of these matches are very important for the Jaguars. The match with West Point-Beemer will probably be more difficult than the match with Pender, but Howells-Dodge has to treat both matches with equal importance.

It's important for the Jaguars to execute at a high level and be on top of their game. The last thing Howells-Dodge can afford to do is struggle.

Two wins would serve as a confidence and momentum booster heading into the postseason.
