Pender goes 2-2 in East Husker Conference Tournament; loses to Lyons-Decatur Northeast
The Pender Pendragons lost 3-0 at home to Lyons-Decatur Northeast on Tuesday following a 2-2 performance in the East Husker Conference Tournament on Thursday and Saturday.
Pender lost 2-0 to Twin River and Oakland-Craig on Thursday before beating Logan View 2-0 and Scribner-Snyder 2-1 on Saturday.
The Pendragons lost 25-19 in set one to the Knights, and dropped set two 25-14.
The Titans downed Pender 25-19 in set one, and 25-16 in set two.
The Pendragons topped the Raiders 25-10 in sets one and two.
Pender defeated the Trojans 25-14 in set one. Scribner-Snyder won set two 25-21, but the Pendragons prevailed in set three 25-15.
The Cougars downed Pender 26-24 in sets one and two, and 25-10 in set three.
The Pendragons had to be encouraged by the way they played against Lyons-Decatur Northeast, at least in the first two sets. Pender easily could have gone up 2-0 in that match.
The Pendragons (7-18) are at Oakland-Craig (21-7) on Thursday.
The Knights defeated Clarkson/Leigh 3-0 on the road Tuesday after beating West Point-Beemer 2-0 and losing to Tekamah-Herman 2-1 on Saturday at the East Husker Conference Tournament. The Knights downed Pender 2-0 and fell 2-0 to Howells-Dodge on Thursday, also at the East Husker Conference Tournament.
Oakland-Craig appears to have gotten back on track with the win over the Patriots.
This is going to be another tough match for Pender, even tougher than the Lyons-Decatur Northeast match I'm afraid.
This match is also on the road so I don't anticipate the Pendragons having an easy time whatsoever.
Pender has to fight hard though, and play tough until the very end.
The Pendragons need to show up and play well on Thursday in order to have any chance at a win.
Only Pender's best effort will allow them to be competitive with the Knights.
The Pendragons have three matches next week and could use some momentum heading into next week.
Pender came close to winning two sets on Tuesday, and now it's simply a matter of taking that next step and winning a set or two against Oakland-Craig.
It won't be easy, but anything is possible. The Pendragons have to play optimistic volleyball, and give it their all on Thursday.
