Oakland-Craig continues streak

The Oakland-Craig Knights are on a seven-match winning streak and won both matches last week and the two they've played so far this week.

Oakland-Craig topped West Point-Beemer 2-0 and Douglas County West 2-1 last Tuesday at the Douglas County West Triangular. Oakland-Craig defeated Fremont Bergan and Logan View 2-0 at the Archbishop Bergan Triangular this past Tuesday.

Oakland-Craig beat the Cadets 25-16 in set one and 25-21 in set two.

The Knights took set one from the Falcons 25-16, dropped set two 25-23, but rebounded to win set three 25-15.

Oakland-Craig topped the Raiders 25-7 in the first set, and 25-9 in the second set.

Oakland-Craig defeated Fremont Bergan 25-22 in set one, and 25-18 in set two

Oakland-Craig has played superb volleyball as of late. The loss to Howells-Dodge appears to have fueled this team.

The Knights (18-5) battle Pender (5-15) in the first round of the East Husker Conference Tournament on Thursday in Oakland.

The Pendragons lost 3-0 at home to Homer on Tuesday after beating Bancroft-Rosalie 3-1 on Monday.

Pender has played well at times this season, but has struggled at others. This is a match Oakland-Craig should be able to win.

It's possible the Knights could meet Howells-Dodge in their second match on Thursday, and I'm sure Oakland-Craig would welcome a rematch with the Jaguars.

I think the Knights have a good chance to go 2-0 on Thursday.

Nothing figures to come easy in this tournament for Oakland-Craig, but the Knights are playing as good as anyone right now.

Oakland-Craig could potentially meet Stanton in their third match of the tournament, and what a big deal it would be for the Knights to upset the Mustangs.

There's a lot of volleyball to be played by both teams before that potential match up, and neither team necessarily has the easiest road to meet one another, but it could very well happen.

Oakland-Craig is playing as well as anyone right now and I wouldn't put anything past this team.
