Pender falls to Oakland-Craig
The Pender Pendragons fell 3-0 at Oakland-Craig on Thursday.
Pender lost set one 25-14, set two 25-10, and set three 25-8.
The Pendragons really struggled against the Knights, but Oakland-Craig is a good team, and showed it on Thursday.
Pender (7-19) is at Clarkson/Leigh (11-17) on Monday.
The Patriots lost 3-1 to Mead at home on Thursday and 3-0 at home to Oakland-Craig on Tuesday.
These two teams met in the Clarkson Tourney on October 3rd with Clarkson/Leigh winning 2-1.
I look for Monday's match to be another tight one between the Pendragons and Patriots.
I think Pender can definitely win if they play well.
The Pendragons have to step up and play a good match though.
Pender has to be much more competitive than they were against the Knights.
The Pendragons have to battle for balls at the net, dig tough balls by diving or dropping down to a knee if necessary, and must have good court awareness.
Communication is important as well in letting each other know if a ball is going to be out or in. Pender has to have good judgement in determining if balls are in or out. The Pendragons don't want to give Clarkson/Leigh easy/free points, especially if the match is close.
This match is important for Pender in terms of gaining momentum for Tuesday's triangular against West Point-Beemer and Howells-Dodge.
