North Bend Central 2-1 in last three matches
The North Bend Central Tigers picked up a huge win over Stanton on Tuesday, winning 2-1 at the Logan View Triangular. North Bend Central took care of the host Raiders 2-0. This coming after the Tigers lost a five set thriller at Howells-Dodge last Tuesday.
The Jaguars won set one 25-23 and set two 25-22. North Bend Central bounced back to win the next two sets 25-21 before Howells-Dodge took set five 15-13.
Brooke Fredrickson notched 25 kills and 14 digs for the Tigers. Kristin Lux added 15 kills and 18 digs. Kenzie Lorence totaled 9 kills and 9 digs. Alexandria Humlicek registered 13 digs while Kylee Hines posted 11. Noelle White dished out 32 set assists while Kaitlyn Bjorklund had 25.
North Bend Central defeated Logan View 25-21 in set one, and 25-11 in set two.
Lux had 8 kills while White and Bjorklund recorded 8 and 7 set assists, respectively.
The Tigers downed the Mustangs 27-25 in set one. Stanton took set two 25-18 before North Bend Central closed out the match with a 25-23 set three win.
Fredrickson finished with 13 kills while Kristin Lux and Allison Lux notched 8 and 7, respectively.
Kristin Lux added 11 digs while Humlicek posted 8. White compiled 28 set assists.
The Tigers suffered a disappointing loss against Howells-Dodge, but more than made up for it by beating Stanton. The win over the Mustangs was no doubt North Bend Central's best win of the season.
The Tigers (22-5) travel to Madison (4-24) on Thursday for their final match of the regular season.
The Dragons beat St. Edward 2-0 on Tuesday at the St. Edward Triangular, but lost 2-0 to Riverside.
I don't see North Bend Central having any trouble with Madison whatsoever.
These two teams met in the East Husker Conference Tournament with the Tigers winning 2-0.
I'm looking for North Bend Central to earn a sweep of the Dragons, although it is Madison's final match at home and they could certainly play inspired.
The Tigers have to be over the win against Stanton by the time they take the floor on Thursday. North Bend Central should enjoy that win prior to this match, but once they take off for Madison on Thursday their focus must be on the Dragons.
This is a must win match for the Tigers in terms of continuing to play well and building for the postseason.
These are the type of teams North Bend Central must take care of in three sets if they hope to beat a team like Columbus Scotus in sub districts.
There's not a lot to be gained by playing the Dragons, but it's a chance to get to 23 wins and close out the regular season on a high note.
This team recovered at the right time after losing to the Jaguars, and should make a push for the state tournament.
Madison is just another team standing in the Tigers' way of reaching their goal of making the state tournament.
