Howells-Dodge finishes Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family Invite unbeaten

The Howells-Dodge Jaguars beat Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family 2-1 and Clarkson/Leigh and Twin River 2-0 at the Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family Invite on Saturday.

The Jaguars took set one from the Patriots 26-24 before winning set two 25-13.

Howells-Dodge downed the Titans 25-18 in set one and 25-22 in set two.

The Jaguars earned a 25-13 set one win over Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family, lost set two 25-21, but won set three 25-22.

Howells-Dodge played at a very high level on Saturday. The Jaguars played up to their capability, and showed what kind of team this squad can be.

Howells-Dodge (15-6) gets ready for the East Husker Conference Tournament Thursday-Saturday.

The Jaguars take on Twin River on Thursday in Oakland.

Howells-Dodge should be able to beat the Titans, but the thing the Jaguars can't get caught doing is looking ahead to a potential match with Oakland-Craig in the winners bracket.

That would be a huge match for Howells-Dodge, but the Jaguars have to focus on taking care of business against Twin River first.

Anybody can beat anybody in conference tournaments, and Howells-Dodge has to understand that they need to play well in order to come out on top.

The Jaguars can't afford to play poorly, and have a bad showing.

Howells-Dodge needs to bring their best effort, and be ready to play a full match.

The Jaguars have to play well in all facets of the game and make the Titans earn their points.

Howells-Dodge can't just give free points away to Twin River. The Jaguars' play has to be excellent.

I like where this team is right now. Howells-Dodge has put themselves in a position to have success here at the end of the regular season.

The Jaguars still have a number of challenging matches here at the end of the regular season, but I think playing tough competition is only going to make Howells-Dodge a better team, and will help them prepare for subdistricts and districts if they get that far.
