Clarkson/Leigh 2-3 in last five matches

The Clarkson/Leigh Patriots are 2-3 in their last five matches, going 2-2 at the East Husker Conference Tournament last week and losing 3-0 at home to Oakland-Craig on Tuesday.

Clarkson/Leigh lost 2-0 to Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family on Thursday, but rebounded to beat Scribner-Snyder 2-0, also on Thursday. The Patriots lost 2-0 to Lyons-Decatur Northeast on Saturday, but beat Twin River 2-0, also on Saturday.

The Patriots fell 25-21 in set one to Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family, and lost set two 25-22.

Shelby Paprocki had 10 digs while Kaegan Held recorded 7 set assists.

Clarkson/Leigh took set one from the Trojans 26-24. Scribner-Snyder won set two 25-23 before the Patriots prevailed in set three 25-21.

Paprocki led the way with 19 kills and 15 digs while Camille Koehn and Hannah Kasik notched 10 and 9 kills, respectively. Maddie Cerv posted 24 digs while Kaitlyn Becher and Held totaled 19 and 16 set assists, respectively.

Clarkson/Leigh defeated the Titans 25-14 in set one, and 30-28 in set two.

Paprocki finished with 12 kills and 12 digs while Cerv notched 18 digs. Megan Svehla added 7. Held and Becher registered 14 and 10 set assists, respectively.

The Patriots fell 25-20 in set one to the Cougars, and dropped set two 25-16.

Paprocki totaled 7 kills and 8 digs while Cerv recorded 8 digs. Held had 7 digs and 10 set assists.

The Knights took set one from Clarkson/Leigh 25-12. Oakland-Craig won set two 25-14, and set three 25-15.

Paprocki finished with 9 kills and 7 digs while Cerv and Koehn added 17 and 11 digs, respectively. Becher totaled 9 digs and 10 set assists while Held notched 8 digs.

The Patriots played decent volleyball in the East Husker Conference Tournament, but didn't play as well against Oakland-Craig.

Clarkson/Leigh (11-16) hosts Mead (12-11) on Thursday.

The Raiders lost to Elmwood-Murdock and Malcolm at the Elmwood-Murdock Tourney on Tuesday.

Mead has lost four in a row and I think the Patriots are in a good position to pick up a win, especially with the match being on Clarkson/Leigh's home floor.

The Raiders are a D-2 school while the Patriots are C-2, and while that doesn't always mean anything, I think it means something in this case.

Clarkson/Leigh hasn't fared the greatest against D-2 schools so far this year, but I have a feeling the Patriots are due for a victory.

Clarkson/Leigh has this match with Mead on Thursday, and a match with Pender on Monday to close out the regular season.

I'm sure the Patriots would love to pick up a couple of wins heading into sub districts. It would be a big deal for Clarkson/Leigh to knock off Mead, and then the Pendragons.

The Patriots have to play tough minded volleyball on Thursday. Clarkson/Leigh can't fold and just roll over for the Raiders. The Patriots have to continue to fight and battle as hard as they can throughout the match.

Clarkson/Leigh needs to win their final two regular season matches for momentum purposes heading into sub districts. The Patriots only have a couple of more chances to shine before the postseason arrives, and must make the most of them.

A win over Mead would be a big step in the right direction.
