Guardian Angels Central Catholic sweeps Norfolk Catholic
The Guardian Angels Central Catholic Bluejays swept Norfolk Catholic 3-0 at home on Tuesday in their home finale.
GACC won set one 25-23, and took sets two and three 25-15.
Maddie Knobbe had 14 kills while Breanne Kreikemeier totaled 12 kills and 14 digs. Kate Steuter notched 25 digs while Kate Knobbe and Morgan Bracht recorded 18 and 10, respectively. Kali Stratman registered 17 set assists while Sara Wordekemper posted 13.
The Bluejays came out and took care of business against the Knights. It was a very well played match on GACC's part. The Bluejays performed well.
GACC (24-1) gets ready for the Mid-State Conference Tournament Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday at Pierce and Norfolk Catholic.
The Bluejays play the winner of Norfolk Catholic and O'Neill at 7:30 on Monday in Pierce in a match that can be heard on 107.9 the Bull.
It's important for GACC to play well in this tournament. The Bluejays have run the table so far this season, and need to continue to do so in this tournament.
GACC needs to keep winning should they need a wildcard to get into the state tournament.
I don't think there' a team in this tournament the Bluejays can't beat.
As a matter of fact, GACC has beaten every team in the conference once this season already.
This tournament is the Bluejays' to lose, in my opinion. I think GACC is in good position to have success, and win every match they play this week.
As I said, the Bluejays need to keep winning so they can ensure themselves a trip to the state tournament. You never know if GACC might falter in sub districts against the likes of Wisner-Pilger or Oakland-Craig.
I would be surprised if the Bluejays don't win this conference tournament.
