West Point-Beemer goes 1-3 in East Husker Conference Tournament

The West Point-Beemer Cadets finished 1-3 at the East Husker Conference Tournament Thursday and Saturday, beating Lyons-Decatur Northeast 2-0 and losing 2-0 to North Bend Central on Thursday before falling 2-0 to Wisner-Pilger and Oakland-Craig on Saturday.

West Point-Beemer downed the Cougars 25-14 in set one and 25-10 in set two.

The Cadets fell 25-12 in set one to the Tigers, and lost set two 25-17.

The Gators took set one from West Point-Beemer 25-18, and won set two 25-14.

The Knights won set one over the Cadets 27-25, and earned a 25-19 set two win.

West Point-Beemer played Oakland-Craig tough, but struggled to put up a fight against North Bend Central and Wisner-Pilger. I thought the Cadets would do better than they did in this tournament, but to West Point-Beemer's defense, they played some pretty tough competition.

The Cadets (12-13) host Boone Central/Newman Grove (13-10) on Tuesday.

The Cardinals lost 3-0 at home to Hartington Cedar Catholic on Thursday after losing 3-0 at home to Fullerton on Tuesday of last week.

This should be a pretty good match, in my opinion.

I look at this match the way I did the first Norfolk Catholic match for West Point-Beemer.

It's a chance for the Cadets to make a statement and pick up a big win.

West Point-Beemer has a chance to win their last three regular season matches if they play well.

And there's no better time to get things going than now.

The Cadets have stumbled down the stretch, but that doesn't mean West Point-Beemer can't get things turned around and headed in the right direction here at the end of the regular season.

This match will be a good indicator as to how high a level the Cadets are playing at here at the end of the regular season, in my opinion.

West Point-Beemer has been inconsistent and up and down the entire year, but the Cadets have a chance to gain some momentum and become consistent with their final three matches of the regular season. And it all starts with Boone Central/Newman Grove on Thursday.

West Point-Beemer needs to play a good came to come away with a win.
