Clarkson/Leigh goes 1-2 at Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family Invite

The Clarkson/Leigh Patriots finished 1-2 at the Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family Invite on Saturday, beating Twin River 2-1, but losing 2-0 to Howells-Dodge and Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family.

The Jaguars took set one 26-24 before winning set two 25-13.

The Patriots downed the Titans 26-24 in set one. Twin River took set two 25-21 before Clarkson/Leigh closed out the match with a 25-20 set three win.

Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family nabbed set one from the Patriots 25-10, and won set two 25-19.

Clarkson/Leigh played okay volleyball on Saturday. The Patriots did a good job earning a hard fought win against the Titans, and did well in set one against Howells-Dodge, but the second set against the Jaguars and the Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family match was not Clarkson/Leigh's best volleyball.

The Patriots (9-13) gear up for the East Husker Conference Tournament Thursday-Saturday.

Clarkson-Leigh opens up with Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family (15-7) on Thursday in Wisner.

Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family went 2-1 at their own invite, beating Twin River and Clarkson/Leigh 2-0, but losing 2-1 to Howells-Dodge.

I definitely think the Patriots have what it takes to play better volleyball against Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family this time around, but Clarkson/Leigh has to step up their game.

The Patriots have to be prepared and ready to play.

Clarkson/Leigh has to execute in all facets of the game, whether that be serving, hitting, passing, serve receiving, digging, or blocking.

The Patriots have to want it more than Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family. It would be a big deal for Clarkson/Leigh to beat them and advance on to the winners bracket.

This is a huge tournament for the Patriots as it is for every team really.

Clarkson/Leigh has to be excited about the opportunity to shine and do well, and their play must reflect that.

I don't think there's any doubt the Patriots can play better than they did against Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family on Saturday.

I look for Clarkson/Leigh to have a much better showing against them this time around.

Match time is set for 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
