Clarkson/Leigh loses to Mead
The Clarkson/Leigh Patriots dropped their most recent match, falling 3-1 to Mead at home on Thursday.
Clarkson/Leigh won set one 25-23 before losing set two 25-21, set three 25-23, and set four 25-22.
Shelby Paprocki finished with 22 kills and 16 digs while Hannah Kasik totaled 8 kills and 7 blocks. Camille Koehn registered 7 kills and 7 digs. Maddie Cerv had 16 digs while Kaegan Held notched 10 digs and 14 set assists. Kaitlyn Becher added 9 digs and 18 set assists.
The Patriots put up some good numbers against the Raiders, but Clarkson/Leigh lost on the scoreboard, which no doubt hurt this team.
The Patriots (11-17) host Pender (7-19) on Monday in their final match of the regular season.
The Pendragons lost 3-0 at Oakland-Craig on Thursday and 3-0 at home to Lyons-Decatur Northeast on Tuesday.
These two teams met on October 3rd in the Clarkson Tourney with the Patriots winning 2-1.
I anticipate this being another tight match between two fairly equal teams.
I give Clarkson/Leigh the slight advantage with the match being on their home floor, but the Pendragons are definitely capable of beating the Patriots and winning their third to last match of the regular season.
Clarkson/Leigh needs this match for momentum purposes heading into sub districts. This is the Patriots' only match of the week and they need to make the most of it.
Plus Clarkson/Leigh would like to win their final match of the regular season, and have their seniors go out as winners at home.
I definitely see the match going four or five sets, but I think the Patriots will prevail. Clarkson/Leigh has been a little bit better than Pender to this point.
The Patriots would double their win total from a year ago with a win, and that would be a significant improvement and accomplishment for this team.
