North Bend Central defeats Tekamah-Herman and Lyons-Decatur Northeast

The North Bend Central Tigers are 2-0 in their last two matches, sweeping Tekamah-Herman 3-0 at home on Thursday before defeating Lyons-Decatur Northeast 3-0 on the road Tuesday.

North Bend Central downed Tekamah-Herman 25-23 in set one, 25-21 in set two, and 25-22 in set three.

Kristin Lux led the way with 13 kills and 7 digs. Brooke Fredrickson added 11 kills while Noelle White totaled 8 digs and 20 set assists. Kaitlynn Bjorklund registered 14 set assists.

North Bend Central won set one over the Cougars 25-10, took set two 25-21, and won set three 25-18.

The Tigers, who have won 14 out of their last 15, were paced by Fredrickson, who had 8 kills. Kristin Lux added 7 kills and 7 digs while Allison Lux recorded 5 kills. White notched 19 set assists while Bjorklund had 8.

North Bend Central rolled last week and the first part of this week. The Tigers have been on a terror as of late.

North Bend Central (17-3) takes on Madison (2-16) in the East Husker Conference Tournament on Thursday.

The Dragons lost 2-0 to Battle Creek and 2-1 to O'Neill at the Madison Triangular on Tuesday.

Madison has struggled this year, but the Tigers still have to come ready to play.

No one can be taken lightly, and the Dragons are no exception.

North Bend Central can't get too ahead of themselves in this tournament. Certainly the Tigers have a chance to be very successful, but North Bend Central has to take things one match at a time.

With that said, as long as the Tigers don't get too ahead of themselves they should have pretty good success in this tournament.

I think North Bend Central could very well meet Stanton in the finals, and what a showdown that would be.

First things first though, the Tigers have to take care of the Dragons, a second round match up with either West Point-Beemer or Lyons-Decatur Northeast, and another match perhaps with Wisner-Pilger.

There's a lot of volleyball to be played in this tournament, and North Bend Central has to remain on top of their game.
