Tekamah-Herman loses at Howells-Dodge
The Tekamah-Herman Tigers lost 3-0 at Howells-Dodge on Thursday.
Howells-Dodge took set one 25-20, and won sets two and three 25-19.
It wasn't an ideal match for Tekamah-Herman, but in their defense the Jaguars play well at home.
The Tigers (15-13) take on Lyons-Decatur Northeast (15-15) at home on Tuesday in the regular season finale for both teams.
The Cougars swept Pender 3-0 on the road on Tuesday of last week, and have played at a high level lately.
Lyons-Decatur Northeast has won four in a row while Tekamah-Herman is 4-3 in their last seven matches.
The Cougars are certainly playing better volleyball than the Tigers right now, but that doesn't mean Tekamah-Herman can't beat Lyons-Decatur Northeast.
The match is in Tekamah and I look for the Tigers to be fired, psyched, and jacked up for this match.
It's the last time these seniors will ever play volleyball on their home floor, and that has to mean something to the whole Tekamah-Herman team.
The underclassmen have to want to win just as bad as the seniors do.
This match is also big in terms of the postseason.
The Tigers are in what I consider to be a winnable sub district. It's up for grabs as far as I'm concerned.
A win over the Cougars would be significant for the purposes of gaining momentum and confidence heading into the postseason.
This match shouldn't affect sub district seeding for Tekamah-Herman as it appears the Tigers will be the second seed in their sub district.
A win would give Tekamah-Herman a good feeling though, and would give them a better chance to be successful in the postseason than a loss would, in my opinion.
