GACC splits Arlington Triangular; falls at Bishop Neumann

The Guardian Angels Central Catholic Volleyball Team is 1-2 in their last three matches, losing 2-0 to Oakland-Craig at the Arlington Triangular Thursday night before winning 2-0 over the host Eagles. The Bluejays also lost 3-0 at Bishop Neumann Tuesday night.

The Knights won set one 25-18 and set two 25-22.

Sophia Hass had 8 kills and 9 digs while Brooklyn Bailey totaled 12 digs. Hanna Knobbe registered 15 set assists.

GACC defeated the Eagles 25-16 in sets one and two.

Bailey had 9 kills and 9 digs while Hass and Evelyn Wooldrik totaled 7 kills apiece. Knobbe dished out 23 set assists.

The Cavaliers won set one 25-17, set two 25-20, and set three 27-25.

Hass had 15 kills and 12 digs while Bailey recorded 9 kills and 10 digs. Megan Plagge notched 9 digs while Knobbe recorded 8 digs and 25 set assists.

I thought GACC played Neumann tough, but did not see the loss to Oakland-Craig coming.

The Bluejays (9-6) take on Hartington Cedar Catholic (11-9) on the road Thursday night.

The Trojans lost 3-1 at Battle Creek Tuesday night.

Cedar Catholic is a very good team with all their losses coming to top competition.

The Trojans have been super competitive in recent losses too.

GACC is going to have their hands full in this one there's no doubt about it.

The Bluejays can definitely go up there and come away with a win though.

I really thought GACC really pushed the Cavaliers in the last two sets, and look for the Bluejays to compete well in this one as well.

I could see GACC losing again, but I could also see the Bluejays winning.

Hass and Bailey have to keep being offensive forces as does Knobbe,...and Bailey, Plagge, and Hass have to keep doing their thing defensively.

GACC is in the midst of a very tough slate of matches.

This is the 2nd of five real tough ones for the Bluejays.

We'll see what GACC has and what they are made of in this one.

It would be a huge win if the Bluejays can get the job done.

Going on the road and winning is never easy, but if there's a team that can do it it is GACC.

The Bluejays have to play hard, confident, loose, smart, and must go out there and have lots of fun.

GACC also has to play with lots of excitement, energy, enthusiasm, passion, pride, toughness, fire, tenacity, and grit.

The Bluejays have to hit the ball with authority and place it well also.

GACC has to be smart, but aggressive, and make the plays necessary to win the match.

The Bluejays also need to avoid silly mistakes that would result in them beating themselves.

GACC has to make the clutch plays necessary to win, and has to find a way to win another big match.

The Bluejays have won big matches this season so it's time for another Thursday night.
