Winnebago 3-2 in last five matches
The Winnebago Volleyball Team swept Walthill and Omaha Nation 2-0 at the Omaha Nation Triangular last Tuesday night before losing 3-0 at home to Winside last Thursday night. The Indians then lost 2-1 to Homer, but beat Whiting, IA 2-0 at their home Triangular this past Tuesday night.
Winnebago topped the Chiefs 25-16 in set one and 25-13 in set two.
The Indians defeated the Blujays 25-16 in set one and 25-17 in set two.
The Wildcats beat Winnebago 25-14 in set one, 25-16 in set two, and 25-19 in set three.
The Indians downed Whiting, IA 25-12 in set one and 25-10 in set two.
The Knights won set one 25-17 and set three 25-11 after dropping set two 25-20.
Fairly good little stretch of matches for Winnebago.
The Indians (11-10) take on Madison (2-20) on the road Tuesday night.
The Dragons beat St. Edward 2-0, but lost 2-0 to Riverside at the Riverside Triangular Monday night.
This should be a good match, and one that Winnebago can definitely win.
Things toughen up for the Indians after this match so Winnebago has to do everything they can and in their power to win it.
The Indians can definitely do it and get the job done too I have no doubts about that.
This will be kind of a unique matchup from the standpoint of Winnebago going up against one of their former coaches in Kayla Herfel.
It should be a good battle, and I know it would be a big deal for the Indians to come out on top.
I know Winnebago probably hasn't played the toughest or hardest schedule so far this year, but credit the Indians for winning 11 matches so far this year.
This is a Winnebago team and program that is getting better and is on the rise, in my opinion.
The Indians have gotten better and been building the last few years, and here is where Winnebago stands and sits at today.
The Indians still have work to do and a ways to go yet, but Winnebago is making progress.
This match will be a good test and gauge of that for sure though as the Dragons swept the Indians 3-0 in Winnebago last year.
If the Indians can go on the road and beat Madison it will only confirm my thoughts that the Indians are improving.
This is definitely not a match Winnebago wants to lose though.
The Indians would much rather stay above .500 than dip to the .500 mark.
That and I'm sure Winnebago doesn't want to lose to a team with the record of the Dragons as a loss to Madison would really hurt and kill power points.
So the Indians really need a win Tuesday night to stay on point and on track.
Both teams will have had ample time to prepare for one another too so it should be a good match all the way around.
