BRLD stomps Homer, loses to Ponca in Sub-Districts
The BRLD Volleyball Team swept Homer 3-0 in the C2-4 Sub-District Play-In Match from Pender in action aired on 107.9 the Bull on Monday before losing 3-1 to Ponca in the Semifinals later that night.
The Wolverines defeated the Knights 25-9 in set one, 25-19 in set two, and 25-16 in set three.
The Indians won set one 25-10 and set two 26-24 before BRLD took set three 25-22 only to drop set four 25-20.
Good strong and valiant effort from the Wolverines in Sub-Districts I thought.
BRLD wraps up their year at 19-14.
Very respectable season for the Wolverines.
I thought Allie Tietz and Paige Raasch did an excellent job in their first year as Co-Head Coaches.
The highlight of the season had to be the five set upset thrilling win over North Bend Central on October 15th.
That's one that I will always remember as a broadcaster.
I think BRLD has a lot of room for growth and improvement next year as well.
The Wolverines say goodbye to Halle Wortman, Kelsey Larsen, Tyra Bonneau, and Tori Ostrand.
These girls meant a lot to the success of BRLD Volleyball no doubt, and will really be missed.
The Wolverines have to be very excited about the future though given all who they bring back.
Key returners are Aubrey Berg, Brooklyn and Audra Nolting, Kinlee Bacon, Caragan Tietz, Alexzi Nottleman, Alyssa Buchholz, and Megan Beutler.
BRLD was pretty young this year and still managed to have a nice season.
Imagine what next year will bring given who all returns.
The Wolverines have to be excited about next season and what it figures to bring.
BRLD has to get after it this offseason and bring excellence upon themselves and their teammates.
The Wolverines have to strive to be great and excellent at everything they do.
BRLD has to devote proper time to Volleyball, in addition to playing Basketball and running track or whatever other sports these girls do.
Running and conditioning will be big and important as well I feel.
The Wolverines must have great endurance so they are the better conditioned team and don't wear out and get tired at the end of matches.
All of these things are very possible and attainable, but it takes a lot of hard work, sacrifice, and determination to make it happen.
