GACC loses to Wisner-Pilger in Sub-Districts to end season
The Guardian Angels Central Catholic Volleyball Team lost 3-1 to Wisner-Pilger in the C2-4 Sub-District Semifinals from Pender in action aired on 107.9 the Bull Monday night.
The Gators won set one 25-23 and set two 25-18 before the Bluejays took set three 25-15 and lost set four 25-19.
Sophia Hass had 17 kills and 21 digs while Brooklyn Bailey totaled 16 kills and 8 digs. Greta Wooldrik added 9 kills while Evelyn Wooldrik posted 7. Hannah Knobbe chipped in 13 digs and 44 set assists while Erica Engelmeyer recorded 8 digs.
Disappointing finish to the season for GACC you could say.
The Bluejays end the year at 13-12.
Hass led the way in kills with 314 while Bailey had 210.
Evelyn Wooldrik had 125 blocks while Taylor Timmerman totaled 82 and Hass chipped in 65.
Hass had 305 digs while Bailey registered 213.
Knobbe had 698 set assists.
GACC parts ways with Knobbe, Engelmeyer, Bailey, Meghan Brunsing, and Elizabeth Karnopp.
These five will be missed big time without a doubt.
Key returners for the Bluejays are Greta and Evelyn Wooldrik, Megan Plagge, Hass, and Timmerman.
GACC always has good freshmen classes too so blend in the younger and older players together and the Bluejays should be successful.
GACC has a lot of work to do this offseason to get back to an elite level though.
I think the Bluejays improved this year from their 12-16 mark in 2018.
GACC still has a lot of work to do to get back to the top, but they can definitely get there.
These girls just have to stay committed and must stick to the plan.
The Bluejays have to keep working hard and must keep working their tails off to be successful.
GACC has to mold themselves into great Volleyball players, and in Hass's case, be an even greater player than she already is.
The Bluejays need to have an excellent offseason and get ready to get back to the GACC of old.
The Bluejays can definitely get back there, but they have to come ready to work hard everyday this offseason.
Conditioning, weight training, and participation in summer camps, leagues, team camps, and open gyms are all important and critical to improving.
Every single rep no matter what it is has to be done with 110% effort.
GACC can't cut any corners whatsoever.
