Winnebago goes 1-2 at Lewis and Clark Conference Tournament
The Winnebago Volleyball Team went 1-2 at the Lewis and Clark Conference Tournament, defeating Creighton 2-0 and losing 2-1 to Wakefield-Allen in pool play at Allen on Saturday, and then falling 3-2 to Homer in a consolation match on Monday.
The Indians defeated the Bulldogs 25-19 in set one and 25-17 in set two.
The Trojans won set one 25-14 and set three 25-5 after losing set two 25-21.
The Knights won set one 25-19 and set two 25-14 before Winnebago won set three 25-22 and set four 25-23 before dropping set five 15-9.
I was very impressed by how the Indians competed in this tournament.
Winnebago (13-13) hosts Homer (10-18) and Wakefield-Allen (16-12) in a regular season ending Triangular Thursday night.
The Trojans beat Creighton and Hartington-Newcastle 2-0 and lost 2-0 to Wynot in their other conference Tournament matches.
The Knights beat Emerson-Hubbard 2-0 and lost 2-0 to Osmond in their other tournament matches.
For Winnebago it's an opportunity to avenge a couple of close losses and finish the regular season on a high note.
These are the last matches before Sub-Districts so it would be a big deal for the Indians to win these matches prior to the postseason beginning.
Winnebago has to come out and play like they did against both teams in the Conference Tournament except finish this time.
The Indians have both teams at home so they should have a great and excellent opportunity to defeat both.
Winnebago has come a long ways this year, and two wins would be a culmination of how much the Indians have improved this season.
I thought Winnebago played the best Volleyball they've played in ages at the Conference Tournament.
It appears the Indians are playing their best Volleyball and peaking at the right time.
Winnebago has to build off of what they did in the Conference Tournament and pick up two huge wins on Thursday.
These are also the last home matches of the season for the Indians so they and the seniors in particular have to make them count.
Winnebago has to come out and play the matches of their lives.
Everything the Indians do needs to be done with 110% effort.
Winnebago has to come out and play their hearts out Thursday night.
The Indians have to play out of their minds and do whatever they did in their last three matches and continue to build on that and make it even better.
