Emerson-Hubbard drops final match of season to Wynot

The Emerson-Hubbard Volleyball Team saw their season come to an end Monday night as the Pirates fell 3-0 to Wynot in the D2-2 Sub-District Semifinals from Hartington Cedar Catholic.

The Blue Devils won set one 25-9, set two 25-6, and set three 25-5.

Tough loss to what was a difficult season for Emerson-Hubbard.

The Pirates end their campaign at 0-28.

Emerson-Hubbard says goodbye to Madison Gunderson, Katie Ahlers, Addison Mackling, Raegan Reifenrath, and Isabella Parker-Diaz.

Some very talented girls lost for sure. They will really be missed no doubt.

Key returners for the Pirates include Brianna Bousquet, Brynn Schock, and Hadley Houfek.

These girls figure to be the top 3 players for Emerson-Hubbard next season.

I'm kind of surprised the Pirates struggled as much as they did this season.

I feel there was talent there to win at least like 5 or 6 matches, but things just didn't come together for Emerson-Hubbard for whatever reason.

The Pirates definitely have a lot of work to do in the future as their program is continuing on as Emerson-Hubbard.

As I mentioned before, there will no longer be a coop with Wakefield and Allen now as Wakefield shot it down.

I think this hurts Emerson-Hubbard Girls Athletics, but I think it's a good thing for all three schools as a whole for the time being.

So the Pirates will have to continue to operate as themselves and Volleyball and Girls Basketball will have to find enough girls to go out again next year.

It's too bad Emerson-Hubbard is struggling like this, but this seems to be happening a lot in these small, rural communities.

The Pirates have to make due with what they're handed next year, and try and build something.

I feel Emerson-Hubbard has a good core group of players back who can do big things and contribute a lot next season.

The Pirates really need those key returners to step up and produce next year though.

Emerson-Hubbard really needs to find an offensive game in the offseason if anything.

The Pirates have to develop some attackers...some girls who can record kills and hit the ball with absolute steam and authority.
