Wisner-Pilger falls to Lutheran High Northeast and GACC at home Triangular
The Wisner-Pilger Volleyball Team lost 2-0 to Lutheran High Northeast and GACC at their home Triangular Thursday night.
The Gators lost set one to the Bluejays 26-24, and dropped set two 25-21.
Emily Buhrman had 11 digs.
The Eagles defeated GACC 25-21 in set one and 26-24 in set two.
Aspin Waterman totaled 15 digs while Buhrman registered 13. Adi Meyer had 10 set assists.
Close, frustrating losses for Wisner-Pilger I'm sure.
The Gators (12-8) take part in their own tournament on Saturday.
Wisner-Pilger faces DC West in their first match of the day. Other teams in the tournament include Clarkson/Leigh, St. Paul, Norfolk Catholic, Neligh-Oakdale, O'Neill, and Wynot.
Lots of good teams and solid, tough competition in this Tournament.
The Gators have to step things up and be better than they were on Thursday if they want to be successful and win.
Not that Wisner-Pilger didn't play well on Thursday, but the Gators came up short in four close sets.
Wisner-Pilger is going to need to raise their level of play and play at a higher level on Saturday if they want to beat some of these teams, in my opinion.
The losses to GACC and LHNE had to be tough as those matches were two opportunities to beat good and solid teams on their home floor.
The Gators weren't able to get the job done though so we'll see if Wisner-Pilger can find some success on Saturday.
It's a new day and another chance for the Gators to find success and do well.
Wisner-Pilger has to come out and defend their home court better than they did on Thursday.
Perhaps having 9 days off hurt the Gators, but Wisner-Pilger should be fresh and loose and ready to go this weekend so there shouldn't be any reason why they don't do well.
The Gators have earned the 2 seed in the East Husker Conference Tournament, and have a good core of matches around that tournament that look like they could and should be wins.
So Wisner-Pilger has to do well on Saturday to set the stage for that tournament and those matches before the postseason hits.
I think it has a chance to be a good and special day for the Gators on Saturday so we'll see how they fare.
The Knights and Wildcats are very good though so Wisner-Pilger may not be able to beat either team, but perhaps the Gators can knock off the Falcons, Patriots or Blue Devils if they face any of those teams.
Those three teams are very good too though so beating either of them may prove to be very difficult as well.
But, as they say, in order to be the best you have to beat the best.
