Howells-Dodge goes 2-1 at Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family Round Robin

The Howells-Dodge Volleyball Team defeated Twin River and Spalding Academy 2-0, but lost 2-0 to Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family at the Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family Round Robin on Saturday.

The Jaguars defeated the Shamrocks 25-12 in set one and 25-10 in set two.

Alyssa Coufal had 13 digs.

Howells-Dodge topped the Titans 27-25 in set one and 25-18 in set two.

Brooklyn Macholan notched 9 kills while Taya VanLengen registered 8. Coufal dished out 16 set assists.

The Bulldogs downed the Jaguars 25-15 in set one and 25-14 in set two.

Coufal posted 8 set assists.

Good tournament overall on Saturday for Howells-Dodge I feel.

The Jaguars (15-9) take on West Point-Beemer (8-17) in the first round of the East Husker Conference Tournament at Wisner-Pilger on Thursday at 5:30 p.m.

The Cadets lost 2-0 to DC West and Oakland-Craig at their home Triangular last Tuesday.

West Point-Beemer has been off for over a week so it will be interesting to see how the Cadets come out.

This figures to be an interesting match, and one Howells-Dodge can definitely win.

West Point-Beemer has lost four in a row so the Jaguars have that going for them and in their favor.

Howells-Dodge has to come out inspired and ready to hustle and get after things.

The Jaguars need to serve and pass and hit and block well also.

Howells-Dodge has to play a complete match and take it to the Cadets.

The Jaguars have to be mentally and physically tougher than West Point-Beemer, and must stay focused at all times.

Even if Howells-Dodge gets down a set or falls behind in the match at any point, they have to stay the course.

The Jaguars simply have to keep playing their game and crank things up if they get behind or trail at any point.

Howells-Dodge has to want it more than the Cadets.

The Jaguars have to outhustle, outwork, and outplay West Point-Beemer.

Howells-Dodge has to communicate on balls going in and out and who's going to go after a certain hit or push.

I think this match could definitely go the distance, and the Jaguars hope it's them that comes out on top.

The loser goes home without playing a second match on Thursday due to having a bye so Howells-Dodge has to do everything in their power to make sure they're the ones that advance.

Easier said than done though as Wisner-Pilger awaits the winner.

It should be a good and interesting tournament that's for sure.

I'm really excited to see how everything goes and unfolds.
