Winnebago splits BRLD Triangular; goes 0-4 at Elkhorn Valley Tournament
The Winnebago Volleyball Team swept Emerson-Hubbard 2-0 before losing 2-0 to BRLD at the BRLD Triangular Thursday night, and then lost 2-0 to Randolph, West Point-Beemer, Fremont Bergan, and Battle Creek at the Elkhorn Valley Tournament on Saturday.
The Wolverines won set one 25-4 and set two 25-5.
The Indians took set one from the Pirates 27-25, and won set two 25-14.
The Knights claimed sets one and two 25-11.
The Bravettes won set one 25-5 and set two 25-2.
The Cadets took set one 25-16 and set two 25-9.
The Cardinals won set one 25-21 and set two 25-14.
Winnebago really struggled against better competition.
The Indians (8-8) take on Walthill (5-7) and Omaha Nation (8-6) at the Omaha Nation Triangular Tuesday night.
The Blujays won 3-1 at Santee on Friday while the Chiefs lost 3-0 at Winnebago on Tuesday.
The Indians have beaten both teams twice this season.
Beating a team three times in a season is never easy, but Winnebago can definitely do it.
The Indians are the better of the three schools, and have proven that on the court already.
Winnebago has a tough time with other teams, but when it comes to Walthill and Omaha Nation they are superior.
Same goes for Santee and Emerson-Hubbard as well.
For the Indians it's a chance to get back to over .500.
Perhaps Winnebago can pick up some more wins after Tuesday night's matches, but the Indians have to be ready for the Blujays and Chiefs.
Winnebago's full attention and focus has to be on those two teams.
The Indians can't be looking ahead to any future matches.
It's going to take Winnebago's full energy and focus to beat both teams three times.
The Indians can definitely do it too, but it will be interesting to see how Winnebago responds to an 0-4 showing on Saturday.
I don't think Saturday will have much impact on this Triangular, but I think the Indians would be in just as good if not better shape than if they had won their past couple of matches or something like that.
Winnebago has to come out focused, energized, and must pay attention to detail.
The Indians have to attack, attack, attack, and take the fight to both teams for the entire length of the matches.
Winnebago has to refuse to lose, and must go in there with a we will win attitude.
The Indians can't have any doubt in their minds whatsoever as to what needs to happen and take place Tuesday night.
It's Winnebago's Triangular to lose as far as I'm concerned.
