Oakland-Craig goes 3-2 at Northeast Nebraska Classic

The Oakland-Craig Volleyball Team went 3-2 at the Northeast Nebraska Classic last week, losing 2-0 to Wayne, but beating Pender 2-0 Thursday night, and then falling 2-1 to North Bend Central, but beating West Point-Beemer 2-0 and GACC 2-1 on Saturday.

The Knights topped the Pendragons 25-14 in sets one and two.

The Blue Devils won 25-20 and 25-23 over Oakland-Craig.

The Bluejays took set one from the Knights 25-23 before Oakland-Craig won set two 25-20 and set three 25-15.

The Knights downed the Cadets 25-21 in set one and 25-14 in set two.

Oakland-Craig defeated North Bend Central 25-20 in set one before losing set two 25-22 and winning set three 25-16.

Heck of a start to the season for the Knights.

Oakland-Craig (4-2) takes on Wisner-Pilger (5-2) on the road Thursday night in action that can be heard on 107.9 the Bull.

The Gators defeated West Point-Beemer 3-2 at home Tuesday night.

Wisner-Pilger is a very good team in their own right and has a legendary coach in Jean Groth.

The Gators will be very difficult to beat, especially on their home floor.

The Knights have played great Volleyball this year though, and I look for that to continue Thursday night.

I wouldn't be surprised if this match went 4 or 5 sets.

I feel things could go either way, and wouldn't be surprised one bit if Oakland-Craig came out on top.

The Knights have had a little extra time to get ready for Wisner-Pilger so I look for Oakland-Craig to be ready come Thursday night.

It should be a great match, and I look for both teams to really get after it Thursday night.

It's one of those matches where you're going to hate to see a team lose.

There's lots of talent on both sides of the net, and Bailey Helzer, Kennedy Benne, Mya Guzinski, Makenna Pearson, Rheanna Paul, and others have to step up and perform well for the Knights.

I look for Oakland-Craig to play well Thursday night and perhaps pull out the win.

If the game was in Oakland I would definitely favor the Knights, but with it being in Wisner I feel the Gators might have the slight edge.

All the Knights have done so far this year is win though, and I think that trend could very well repeat itself again on Thursday.

Oakland-Craig has to play hard and smart, and must stay poised at all times.

The Knights have to understand the value and importance of each point and set.

Every play is critical in a match like this.

First serve is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on the Bull.

It should be a great match between two evenly matched teams.
