Stanton 4-1 in last five matches
The Stanton Volleyball Team went 2-1 at the Boone Central Invite on Saturday, beating Crofton and Ord 2-0 before losing 2-0 to Columbus Lakeview.
The Mustangs then turned around and won the North Bend Central Triangular on Monday, defeating the host Tigers 2-1 and Logan View/Scribner-Snyder 2-0.
Stanton downed the Warriors 25-21 in set one and 25-19 in set two.
Kinley Pohlman had 8 kills while Jasmine Kment totaled 8 digs. Emily Colwell added 12 set assists.
The Vikings won 27-25 in set one and took set two 26-24.
Sylvia Cunningham posted 7 kills while Kment notched 21 digs. Morgan Remm had 10 digs and 8 set assists while Colwell recorded 8 digs and 8 set assists. Ellie Locke had 8 digs.
The Mustangs topped the Chanticleers 25-17 in set one and 25-16 in set two.
Locke posted 8 kills and 9 digs while Kment managed 15 digs. Colwell added 7 digs and 9 set assists while Remm registered 10 set assists.
Stanton downed the Tigers 29-27 in set one, and won set three 25-20 after losing set two 26-24.
Locke led the way with 13 kills while Olivia Cunningham had 10. Pohlman added 8 while Kment totaled 13 digs. Marissa Remm posted 7 digs while Colwell and Morgan Remm notched 20 and 15 set assists, respectively.
The Mustangs topped the Raiders 25-22 in set one and 25-11 in set two.
I've been very impressed with this team lately. Stanton is starting to put things together and is playing winning Volleyball.
The Mustangs (8-4) take on Boone Central/Newman Grove (2-5) and Norfolk Catholic (6-2) at the Norfolk Catholic Triangular Thursday night.
The Cardinals lost 3-0 at Crofton Tuesday night while the Knights topped Hartington Cedar Catholic at home Tuesday night.
The BC/NG match should be a sure win for Stanton, but Norfolk Catholic figures to be very tough and challenging.
The Mustangs can definitely win, but Stanton has their hands full with the Knights Thursday night.
Norfolk Catholic's two losses are to Wahoo and Bishop Neumann.
The Knights have swept GACC, Lutheran High Northeast, and have beaten the Trojans twice.
That's really saying something, but the Mustangs won't back down from or be afraid of Norfolk Catholic, that's for sure.
Stanton is used to winning so honestly if the Mustangs beat the Knights I won't be surprised quite frankly.
Both teams are playing great Volleyball, but Norfolk Catholic has done it all year long as opposed to Stanton, who has started coming on as of late.
The Mustangs have picked the right time to get hot though cause this is a big match for them.
It will be the last match of the night too so these two teams have to really get after one another.
Stanton has to take care of business against the Cardinals in the second match of the triangular, but I fully expect the Mustangs to do that.
As long as Stanton doesn't overlook Boone Central/Newman Grove they should be fine in that match.
The Mustangs have to come out and play their game and be poised.
Stanton can't be intimidated by Norfolk Catholic, and I don't think they will or should be.
The Mustangs need to come out and play a great match from the start, and take it to the Knights.
Stanton has to save their best for last so to speak, and bring it at the end against Norfolk Catholic.
The Mustangs have to play well and be sharp against the Cardinals prior to playing the Knights so they can set the stage for and play well against Norfolk Catholic.
