Emerson-Hubbard loses to BRLD and Winnebago at BRLD Triangular
The Emerson-Hubbard Volleyball Team lost 2-0 to BRLD and Winnebago at the BRLD Triangular Thursday night.
The Wolverines downed the Pirates 25-5 in set one and 25-7 in set two.
Addison Mackling had 10 digs.
The Indians beat Emerson-Hubbard 27-25 in set one and 25-14 in set two.
Brynn Schock had 11 digs while Isabella Parker-Diaz totaled 10.
I thought the Pirates played well against Winnebago in set one.
Emerson-Hubbard (0-11) takes on Ponca (14-2) and Wynot (10-0) at the Ponca Triangular Tuesday night.
The Indians swept BRLD 3-0 at home Monday night while the Blue Devils swept Laurel-Concord-Coleridge and Wakefield-Allen 2-0 at their home Triangular Thursday night.
This is an extremely tough Triangular and pair of matchups for the Pirates.
Emerson-Hubbard has to go out there and fight hard and do their best.
Both Ponca and Wynot are very good teams, teams who could be in the State Tournament in November.
The Pirates aren't that far removed from state glory themselves though and have to dream big.
Emerson-Hubbard has to continue to battle and make the most of their final season as the Emerson-Hubbard Pirates.
Emerson-Hubbard has to continue to play good, strong defense, and has to pick things up offensively.
The Pirates have to come ready to play and compete Tuesday night.
Emerson-Hubbard needs a stronger showing than they had against the Wolverines.
If the Pirates can play the way they did in set one against Winnebago then things could get interesting Tuesday night.
But if Emerson-Hubbard plays the way they did against BRLD then it could be a long and tough night.
The Pirates hope it's not that way, and I'm sure they would like to keep things close throughout and win if possible.
Even if Emerson-Hubbard doesn't win...as long as they can keep things close and respectable I think they would have to feel good about that.
The last thing the Pirates want to do is get beat the way they did by BRLD.
Emerson-Hubbard is better than that and can play better than they did in that match there's no doubt about it.
The Pirates have to hold themselves more accountable and need to have practice well leading up to the Triangular.
Anything Emerson-Hubbard can do to try and find success in this Triangular would be good.
