Some good, competitive play from Wisner-Pilger on Saturday and Tuesday.
The Gators (12-12) battle Stanton (5-18) in the first round of the East Husker Conference Tournament at Howells-Dodge Thursday night.
The Mustangs swept Twin River 3-0 at home Tuesday night.
The Gators beat Stanton 2-0 at the Stanton Triangular on September 22nd.
The Mustangs are coming off a win and figure to have some momentum coming into this match and could play well come Thursday night.
Wisner-Pilger has to get off to a fast start and be focused and energized and ready to rock and roll.
If the Gators play the way they did on Saturday and Tuesday then they should be fine.
But if Wisner-Pilger struggles then things could perhaps be closer than the Gators would like.
Either way I expect Wisner-Pilger to beat Stanton, but Thursday's match will set the tone for the rest of the tournament I feel.
The winner gets Howells-Dodge at 7:00 p.m., and the Jaguars are having a very nice season.
I feel like the Gators would have a shot to upset Howells-Dodge should the two teams play, but it would be very difficult.
I do think Wisner-Pilger would compete well against and give the Jaguars a run for their money though.
It will certainly be interesting to see how everything goes and transpires Thursday night.
First serve is set for 6:00 p.m. in Howells.
