The Guardian Angels Central Catholic Volleyball Team swept Crofton 3-0 on the road Thursday night before sweeping Pierce 3-0 in the Mid-State Conference Tournament at Battle Creek Monday night, but losing 3-0 to Wayne in the Tournament Semifinals at Norfolk Catholic Tuesday night.
The Bluejays beat the Warriors 25-11 in set one, and took sets two and three 25-20.
Sophia Hass had 15 kills and 22 digs while Evelyn Wooldrik totaled 11 kills. Taylor Timmerman added 9 kills and 10 digs while Greta Wooldrik notched 8 kills. Kelsy Steffen recorded 18 digs while Isabel Hass tallied 16. Megan Plagge registered 12 digs and 34 assists.
GACC took set one from Pierce 25-18, won set two 25-20, and claimed set three 25-17.
Sophia Hass had 14 kills and 16 digs while Evelyn Wooldrik posted 8 digs. Isabel Hass chipped in 18 digs while Plagge compiled 8 digs and 27 assists.
The Blue Devils defeated GACC 25-15 in set one, 26-24 in set two, and 25-14 in set three.
Sophia Hass had 7 kills and 14 digs while Timmerman added 7 kills. Isabel Hass recorded 18 digs while Erica Engelmeyer registered 16. Plagge chipped in 13 digs and 19 assists while Steffen contributed 8 digs.
I thought GACC played well against Crofton and Pierce, but sort of struggled against Wayne.
The Bluejays (13-9) battle Battle Creek (19-8) for 3rd place at Norfolk Catholic Thursday night.
The Bravettes lost 3-0 to Norfolk Catholic in Tuesday's other Semifinal.
Battle Creek outlasted GACC 3-2 in West Point back on Tuesday, October 6th.
I think the Bluejays can get the Bravettes this time around.
If GACC plays the way they did against the Warriors and Pierce, and in set two against the Blue Devils then they can beat anyone.
It would be a great way to end the regular season as well.
GACC just about had Battle Creek in Round One so we'll see if the Bluejays can get the Bravettes this time around.
GACC has gotten great production on both sides of the night from just about everyone and that is a great sign to see.
The Bluejays have to continue to get that great production in their quest to keep getting this program back to where it can and should be.
GACC has to step up come Thursday night and play a good match.
The Bluejays have to avenge their loss to Battle Creek if at all possible.
First serve is set for 6:00 p.m. in Norfolk.
