The Winnebago Volleyball Team was swept 3-0 at home by Laurel-Concord-Coleridge Thursday night before falling 2-0 to Tri County Northeast and Homer at the Lewis and Clark Conference Tournament at Emerson-Hubbard on Saturday. The Indians then turned around and defeated Walthill 2-0 in a consolation match at Homer Monday night.
The Bears won set one 25-11, set two 25-13, and set three 25-19.
The Wolfpack took set one 25-14 and set two 25-12.
The Knights won set one 25-19 and set two 25-20.
Winnebago took set one from Walthill 25-15, and won set two 25-18.
I thought the Indians competed well against the Knights and Blujays.
Winnebago (5-9) takes on West Point-Beemer (20-8) at the Wakefield Tournament Thursday night.
The Cadets swept South Sioux City 3-0 at home Monday night.
West Point-Beemer is having a really nice season, and will be very difficult for the Indians to contend with and beat.
It will be interesting to see if Sidney Swanson plays in this match for the Cadets.
Regardless, Winnebago has to come out and compete their tails off on Thursday.
The Indians will have a second match against either Homer or Wakefield later on in the evening.
Winnebago could very well lose both of their matches, but the Indians have to play to win.
It's the final matches of the regular season for Winnebago, and they have to embrace and make the most of them.
The Indians have to be thankful just to have the opportunity to go out there and play in this Tournament given everything they've had to deal with pandemic wise.
You always want to strive and play to win though so Winnebago has to go out there and do well and compete.
First serve is set for 6:00 p.m.
