Oakland-Craig goes 1-1 on Final Day of EHC Tournament

The Oakland-Craig Volleyball Team went 1-1 on Day 2 of the East Husker Conference Tournament at Stanton on Saturday, beating BRLD 2-0, but losing 2-1 to Clarkson/Leigh.

The Knights took set one from the Wolverines 25-19, and won set two 26-24.

Bailey Helzer had 16 kills and 7 digs while Josie Richards notched 24 assists.

Oakland-Craig won set one against the Patriots 25-23 before losing set two 25-23 and set three 30-28.

A good job of beating BRLD, but it appears the Knights' issue of finishing off matches still lingered in the Clarkson/Leigh match.

The good news is Oakland-Craig (19-6) hosts Clarkson/Leigh (20-5) in the regular season finale Tuesday night.

The Patriots beat the Wolverines 2-0 in their other match on Saturday.

I am kind of thinking that the Knights may be able to get payback in this one Tuesday night.

Oakland-Craig is at home, and it is Senior night, and I'm thinking the Knights are thinking there's no way we're going to lose this match.

Oakland-Craig has come too far and had such a great season that it would be tough if they lost this one at home.

Clarkson/Leigh is a great team and program and could very well win, but the Knights really need this big win to give themselves some positive momentum heading into the postseason.

If Oakland-Craig can get ahead and close out the match this time around then their confidence will grow heading into the postseason as well.

And that's honestly what the Knights need at this point, that is a confidence booster.

It will be interesting to see if that's what they get Tuesday night.

I think they will, but you never know.

Oakland-Craig has to come out and play extra hard knowing this is the last time these seniors will ever play a match on their home floor.
