The West Point-Beemer Volleyball Team beat Pender 2-1 in the Semifinals before losing 3-0 to Howells-Dodge in the Championship at the East Husker Conference Tournament at Stanton on Saturday. The Cadets then turned around and swept South Sioux City 3-0 at home Monday night.
The Cadets took set one from the Pendragons 25-20, and won set three 25-21 after losing set two 25-15.
Rachel Groth had 16 kills while Jadyn Meiergerd registered 11. Brooklyn Weddle added 21 digs while Emily Toelle had 11. Katie Rainforth notched 9 while Reece Snodgrass totaled 10 digs and 28 assists.
The Jaguars won set one 25-16, set two 25-19, and set three 25-9.
Groth finished with 9 kills while Meiergerd notched 8. Weddle and Rainforth each had 10 digs while Snodgrass dished out 17 assists.
The Cadets defeated the Cardinals 25-12 in set one, 25-18 in set two, and 25-9 in set three.
Groth posted 12 kills while Meiergerd recorded 8. Weddle chipped in 8 digs while Snodgrass registered 7 digs and 22 assists.
Good play from West Point-Beemer, but imagine how much more lethal they would be if Sidney Swanson was in the lineup.
The Cadets (20-8) take on Winnebago (5-9) at the Wakefield Tournament Thursday night.
The Indians beat Walthill 2-0 in a Lewis and Clark Conference Tournament Consolation Match at Homer Monday night.
The Cadets should be able to win this one relatively easy I would think.
West Point-Beemer would then face the winner of Wakefield and Homer in the Championship at 8:00 p.m.
I look for the Cadets to win this Tournament and end the regular season on a high note.
Sub-Districts begin next week, and so that is when things really count.
I look at these matches on Thursday as tune up and preparation for the postseason.
It's also a chance to go out there and play well and win a Championship and accomplish something great.
This tournament figures to give West Point-Beemer a taste of what it's like to win a Championship in Volleyball.
The Cadets did great in the EHC Tournament, finishing Runner-Up.
The ultimate goal is to win championships though, and I look for West Point-Beemer to do just that come Thursday night.
The Winnebago match is scheduled to start at 6:00 p.m.
