Howells-Dodge 4-1 in last five matches

The Howells-Dodge Volleyball Team won the East Husker Conference Tournament last week, downing Wisner-Pilger 2-1 at home last Thursday night, and North Bend Central 2-0 in the Semifinals and West Point-Beemer 3-0 in the Finals at Stanton on Saturday. The Jaguars then fell 3-1 at North Bend Central Tuesday night before sweeping Tekamah-Herman 3-0 on the road Thursday night in the regular season finale.

The Jaguars won set one 25-19 and set three 25-18 over the Gators after losing set two 25-20.

Grace Baumert had 15 kills while Janessa Schmidt totaled 7. Riley Pokorny added 10 digs while Lexie Brester recorded 7. Ellie Baumert added 29 assists.

Howells-Dodge topped NBC the first time 25-17 and 25-21.

Grace Baumert finished with 11 kills while Ellie Baumert had 19 assists.

The Jaguars downed the Cadets 25-16 in set one, 25-19 in set two, and 25-9 in set three.

Grace Baumert had 24 kills while Ellie Baumert compiled 35 assists.

The second time around, North Bend Central beat Howells-Dodge 33-31 in set one, took set two 25-18, and claimed set four 25-23 after losing set three 25-16.

Grace Baumert finished with 31 kills and 10 digs while Brooklyn Macholan totaled 8 kills. Pokorny added 17 digs while Ellie Baumert recorded 12 digs and 46 assists. Brester chipped in 8 digs.

Howells-Dodge won set one over Tekamah-Herman 25-9, took set two 25-18, and won set three 25-10.

Stellar Volleyball from the Jaguars on Saturday and Thursday.

Howells-Dodge (22-4) hosts Tekamah-Herman (6-22) again Monday night in the C2-3 Sub-District in action from Howells that can be heard on 107.9 the Bull.

The Tigers have shown they can play well against anyone this season by how they've played in the second half of the season.

The Jaguars have to come ready to play cause you know Tekamah-Herman will.

Howells-Dodge has to get ready and must gear up for a big postseason run.

I look for the Jaguars to play Great Volleyball Monday night and Tuesday night if they make it that far.

The winner gets either GACC or Wisner-Pilger in Tuesday night's Sub-District Final so Howells-Dodge would have their work cut out either way in that one.

It's never easy this time of year, and it's not supposed to be.

To be the best you have to beat the best of the best, and that's exactly what the Jaguars will need to do if they are to make a big postseason run.

Both Grace and Ellie Baumert have to come up big for Howells-Dodge in this Sub-District.

It's the Jaguars' Sub-District to lose in my opinion so if Howells-Dodge comes out and plays up to and reaches their full potential then I feel they have a good shot to win and advance.

First serve is slated for 6:00 p.m. on the Bull.
