Winnebago played their first matches of the season since September 15th Tuesday night when the Indians battled Homer and Whiting, IA at the Homer Triangular.
Winnebago beat Whiting, IA 2-1, and lost 2-1 to the host Knights.
Whiting won set one 25-22 before the Indians took set two 25-12 and set three 25-19.
Winnebago took set one from Homer 25-23 before losing set two 25-17 and set three 25-20.
Close, competitive losses for the Indians.
Winnebago (3-6) plays host to Madison (2-15) Tuesday night.
The Dragons won 2-0 over St. Edward, but lost 2-0 to Riverside at the St. Edward Triangular Monday night.
I look for the Indians to win this match, and perhaps sweep it.
I was impressed by Winnebago's play Tuesday night, especially for being off as long as they were.
I'm sure Winnebago was very excited to get back on the court last week, and has to come out with that same excitement Tuesday night.
It's too bad that Winnebago had to miss as many matches as they did, but all the Indians can do now is make the most of what they have left this season.
If anything having some matches taken away from them should really make them value what is left and play that much harder.
Winnebago has to come out and take it to Madison Tuesday night.
The Indians also play Laurel-Concord-Coleridge at home Thursday night in their last regular season match at home prior to the Lewis and Clark Conference Tournament so Winnebago has to play well that night as well.
