Winnebago splits BRLD Triangular; goes 0-4 at Elkhorn Valley Tournament

The Winnebago Volleyball Team swept Emerson-Hubbard 2-0 before losing 2-0 to BRLD at the BRLD Triangular Thursday night, and then lost 2-0 to Randolph, West Point-Beemer, Fremont Bergan, and Battle Creek at the Elkhorn Valley Tournament on Saturday.

The Wolverines won set one 25-4 and set two 25-5.

The Indians took set one from the Pirates 27-25, and won set two 25-14.

The Knights claimed sets one and two 25-11.

The Bravettes won set one 25-5 and set two 25-2.

The Cadets took set one 25-16 and set two 25-9.

The Cardinals won set one 25-21 and set two 25-14.

Winnebago really struggled against better competition.

The Indians (8-8) take on Walthill (5-7) and Omaha Nation (8-6) at the Omaha Nation Triangular Tuesday night.

The Blujays won 3-1 at Santee on Friday while the Chiefs lost 3-0 at Winnebago on Tuesday.

The Indians have beaten both teams twice this season.

Beating a team three times in a season is never easy, but Winnebago can definitely do it.

The Indians are the better of the three schools, and have proven that on the court already.

Winnebago has a tough time with other teams, but when it comes to Walthill and Omaha Nation they are superior.

Same goes for Santee and Emerson-Hubbard as well.

For the Indians it's a chance to get back to over .500.

Perhaps Winnebago can pick up some more wins after Tuesday night's matches, but the Indians have to be ready for the Blujays and Chiefs.

Winnebago's full attention and focus has to be on those two teams.

The Indians can't be looking ahead to any future matches.

It's going to take Winnebago's full energy and focus to beat both teams three times.

The Indians can definitely do it too, but it will be interesting to see how Winnebago responds to an 0-4 showing on Saturday.

I don't think Saturday will have much impact on this Triangular, but I think the Indians would be in just as good if not better shape than if they had won their past couple of matches or something like that.

Winnebago has to come out focused, energized, and must pay attention to detail.

The Indians have to attack, attack, attack, and take the fight to both teams for the entire length of the matches.

Winnebago has to refuse to lose, and must go in there with a we will win attitude.

The Indians can't have any doubt in their minds whatsoever as to what needs to happen and take place Tuesday night.

It's Winnebago's Triangular to lose as far as I'm concerned.

Emerson-Hubbard loses to BRLD and Winnebago at BRLD Triangular

The Emerson-Hubbard Volleyball Team lost 2-0 to BRLD and Winnebago at the BRLD Triangular Thursday night.

The Wolverines downed the Pirates 25-5 in set one and 25-7 in set two.

Addison Mackling had 10 digs.

The Indians beat Emerson-Hubbard 27-25 in set one and 25-14 in set two.

Brynn Schock had 11 digs while Isabella Parker-Diaz totaled 10.

I thought the Pirates played well against Winnebago in set one.

Emerson-Hubbard (0-11) takes on Ponca (14-2) and Wynot (10-0) at the Ponca Triangular Tuesday night.

The Indians swept BRLD 3-0 at home Monday night while the Blue Devils swept Laurel-Concord-Coleridge and Wakefield-Allen 2-0 at their home Triangular Thursday night.

This is an extremely tough Triangular and pair of matchups for the Pirates.

Emerson-Hubbard has to go out there and fight hard and do their best.

Both Ponca and Wynot are very good teams, teams who could be in the State Tournament in November.

The Pirates aren't that far removed from state glory themselves though and have to dream big.

Emerson-Hubbard has to continue to battle and make the most of their final season as the Emerson-Hubbard Pirates.

Emerson-Hubbard has to continue to play good, strong defense, and has to pick things up offensively.

The Pirates have to come ready to play and compete Tuesday night.

Emerson-Hubbard needs a stronger showing than they had against the Wolverines.

If the Pirates can play the way they did in set one against Winnebago then things could get interesting Tuesday night.

But if Emerson-Hubbard plays the way they did against BRLD then it could be a long and tough night.

The Pirates hope it's not that way, and I'm sure they would like to keep things close throughout and win if possible.

Even if Emerson-Hubbard doesn't win...as long as they can keep things close and respectable I think they would have to feel good about that.

The last thing the Pirates want to do is get beat the way they did by BRLD.

Emerson-Hubbard is better than that and can play better than they did in that match there's no doubt about it.

The Pirates have to hold themselves more accountable and need to have practice well leading up to the Triangular.

Anything Emerson-Hubbard can do to try and find success in this Triangular would be good.

Tekamah-Herman goes winless at own Invite; sweeps Madison

The Tekamah-Herman Volleyball Team lost 2-1 to Omaha Roncalli and fell 2-0 to BRLD and Fort Calhoun at the Tekamah-Herman Invite on Saturday before sweeping Madison 3-0 at home Tuesday night.

The Pioneers won set one 25-19 and set two 25-12.

The Tigers took set one from the Crimson Pride 25-20 before losing set two 25-13 and set three 25-22.

Tekamah-Herman beat the Dragons 25-16 in sets one and two and 25-13 in set three.

The Tigers have shown flashes of playing great at times this year, and I thought Tekamah-Herman played well against Roncalli and Madison.

The Tigers (2-14) take Oakland-Craig (9-6) and Stanton (11-8) at the Oakland-Craig Triangular Tuesday night.

The Mustangs won 2-0 over Pender and lost 2-0 to Wisner-Pilger at the Wisner-Pilger Triangular Tuesday night while the Knights beat GACC and Arlington 2-0 at the Arlington Triangular Thursday night.

Both teams are going to be tough and difficult, but I think Tekamah-Herman can compete and I actually look for the Tigers to play well.

I don't know if Tekamah-Herman will beat either team, but I think the Tigers can take a set or at least keep sets close.

Tekamah-Herman is getting into a really tough part of their schedule that ends the regular season and needs to find a way to play consistently well.

I feel the Tigers have played well at times this year, but not consistently well enough to win a lot of matches.

If Tekamah-Herman can become more consistent though then they can definitely start winning more matches.

I think the win over the Dragons helps and is a positive step in the right direction.

I think the Tigers have to feel pretty optimistic about things Tuesday night, and must go out there and play great Volleyball.

Tekamah-Herman has to play up to their potential and lay everything out on the line.

The Tigers can't back down from either team, and have to attack and take the fight to both teams.

Oakland-Craig and Stanton have a lot of talented players, but so does Tekamah-Herman.

The Tigers can't think that either team is better than them.

Tekamah-Herman has to believe they can win, and has to refuse to lose.

The Tigers have to expect to do well and win.

This is the toughest part of the schedule coming up for Tekamah-Herman so when the going gets tough the tough has to get going in the Tigers' case.

Tekamah-Herman has to step up and ball out Tuesday night, and try and pick up two wins and a triangular sweep.

Stanton 3-4 in last 7 matches

The Stanton Volleyball Team is 3-4 in their last 7 matches, beating Boone Central/Newman Grove 2-0, and losing 2-0 to Norfolk Catholic at the Norfolk Catholic Triangular last Thursday, losing 2-0 to Ponca and Hartington Cedar Catholic, butt beating Clarkson/Leigh 2-0 at the Stanton Tournament on Saturday, and winning 2-0 over Pender, but losing 2-0 to Wisner-Pilger at the Wisner-Pilger Triangular on Tuesday.

The Knights downed the Mustangs 25-19 in set one and 25-17 in set two.

Jasmine Kment had 15 digs while Marissa Remm totaled 9. Morgan Remm added 8 set assists.

Stanton defeated the Cardinals 25-17 in set one and 25-16 in set two.

Ellie Locke had 7 kills while Kment registered 9 digs. Emily Colwell added 10 set assists while Morgan Remm totaled 8.

The Trojans won set one 25-10 and set two 25-22.

Kment notched 10 digs while Morgan Remm dished out 10 set assists.

The Indians downed the Mustangs 25-19 in set one and 25-23 in set two.

Sylvia Cunningham had 17 kills while Kment registered 18 digs. Marissa Remm added 13 digs while Morgan Remm compiled 9 digs and 19 set assists. Colwell notched 8 set assists.

Stanton beat the Pendragons 25-14 in set one and 25-13 in set two.

Cunningham had 8 kills while Kment recorded 10 digs. Locke and Marissa Remm had 7 digs apiece while Morgan Remm tallied 9 set assists.

The Gators won set one 25-20 before the Mustangs took set two 25-19. Wisner-Pilger won set three 25-14.

Cunningham notched 9 kills and 8 digs while Locke had 8 kills and 15 digs. Olivia Cunningham had 7 kills while Kment and Marissa Remm totaled 16 and 11 digs, respectively. Colwell dished out 17 set assists while Morgan Remm recorded 9.

Not bad play from Stanton, but I feel the Mustangs can still be better.

Stanton (11-8) takes on Oakland-Craig (9-6) and Tekamah-Herman (2-14) at the Oakland-Craig Triangular Tuesday night.

The Knights beat GACC and Arlington 2-0 at the Arlington Triangular Thursday night while the Tigers beat Madison 3-0 at home Tuesday night.

Both opponents figure to be tough, especially Oakland-Craig.

The Knights have been playing well lately, and really stepped things up the other night.

Tekamah-Herman is a sneaky team and can beat anyone on any given night so the Mustangs have to watch out for them too.

If I had to guess how things are going to go I would say Stanton beats Tekamah-Herman, but loses to Oakland-Craig.

The Mustangs can definitely win and sweep this Triangular though if they play up to their potential.

Stanton's stats have been better in their most recent matches, and that has to continue for the Mustangs.

Stanton has to step things up and be even better than they already have been this season.

The Mustangs are having a respectable season so far, but I feel Stanton can be even better.

The Mustangs have to get back to the elite level they've played at in the past, and be dominant.

Sylvia Cunningham, Locke, Colwell, Morgan Remm, and Olivia Cunningham need to continue to lead and carry this team offensively.

Kment, Marissa Remm, and others need to continue to get the job done defensively for this ball club.

Stanton has to keep getting great contributions from everyone and continue to work on becoming a great team.

The Mustangs are putting up the type of numbers to be great, but Stanton isn't winning the big matches like they have in the past and are accustomed to.

The Mustangs have beaten some good teams, but have lost to a lot of good teams as well.

Stanton has to find their best form and regain the form they played with in wins over teams like North Bend Central and Logan View/Scribner-Snyder.

The Mustangs have to keep improving, persevering, and playing hard in an effort to right the ship.

If Stanton can do that they should put themselves in a position to be successful.

Logan View/Scribner-Snyder 4-2 in last 6 matches

The Logan View/Scribner-Snyder Volleyball Team is 4-2 in their last six matches, winning 3-2 at Howells-Dodge last Thursday night before beating Yutan 2-0 and Schuyler and Homer 2-1 at the Logan View Invite on Saturday. The Raiders also lost 2-1 to West Point-Beemer and 2-0 to Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family at the West Point-Beemer Triangular Tuesday night.

It was a back and forth affair against the Jaguars as the Raiders won set one 25-15 before the Jaguars took set two 25-13 only to see Logan View/Scribner-Snyder win set three 25-16 before Howells-Dodge bounced back to win set four 28-26 before the Raiders eventually won set five 15-9.

Emily Lewin had 18 kills and 13 digs while Dream Daugherty notched 14 kills and 15 digs. Tyler Christianson added 10 kills and 17 digs while Kristal Svehla had 7 kills. Reagan Klein totaled 8 digs and 47 set assists while Adrian Kroeker added 7 digs.

Head Coach Brad Schlegel. "Going only to 15 you have to come out and match the intensity immediately. You can't feel sorry for yourself, you can't hang your head or be scared. You have to come out and play the hardest game of the night. It's like your digging deep in those energy reserves, and my biggest message is that this is what we've worked for, these seniors have been on quite a journey for four years, and stuff doesn't really phase them anymore."

The Raiders topped the Chieftains 25-18 in set one and 25-22 in set two.

Lewin notched 13 kills while Christianson had 16 digs. Daugherty added 9 digs while Klein compiled 26 set assists.

LVSS won set one over the Warriors 25-11, and took set three 25-14 after dropping set two 25-23.

Lewin had 10 kills and 9 digs while Daugherty contributed 7 kills and 11 digs. Klein dished out 20 set assists.

The Bulldogs won set one 25-23 and set two 25-16.

Lewin registered 9 kills and 7 digs while Elizabeth Hull had 10 digs. Klein recorded 7 digs and 15 set assists.

The Raiders lost set one to the Cadets 25-16 before winning set two 25-19. Logan View/Scribner-Snyder dropped set three 25-15.

Christianson had 9 kills while Lewin managed 8 kills and 10 digs. Daugherty chipped in 7 kills and 8 digs while Hull had 11 digs. Klein recorded 8 digs and 25 set assists.

Good run and stretch of matches for LVSS, although they did struggle some on Tuesday.

The Raiders (10-9) take on Clarkson/Leigh (6-5) on the road Tuesday night in action that can be heard on 107.9 the Bull.

The Patriots swept Twin River 3-0 at home Tuesday night.

Clarkson/Leigh is in action at the Hampton Tournament this weekend so Logan View/Scribner-Snyder has had and does have ample and extra practice time to get ready for the Patriots.

Sometimes a long layoff hurts a team, but I think it's okay in the Raiders' case.

Reason being LVSS just lost two in a row and now has some time to regroup.

Sometimes you just want to get back out on the court right away after some tough losses, but I think having a break is a good thing.

Sometimes a team has a tendency to allow a couple of losses lead to more, and sometimes short turnarounds only frustrate teams more and complicate things further.

The Raiders have had a while to figure things out so they should be ready to go Tuesday night.

I look for Logan View/Scribner-Snyder to be fresh and ready to go.

I think you will see a good and strong Raider team take to the court Tuesday night.

LVSS has a golden opportunity to pick up two wins next week, and has to find a way to get the job done.

The Raiders could very well have the fresher legs on Tuesday seeing as the Patriots play in the tournament on Saturday.

I look for Logan View/Scribner-Snyder to go out there and play great Volleyball Tuesday night.

I think the Raiders have a good shot to win and wouldn't be surprised if they swept the match or won it in four.

I think the sets will be close and competitive, but think LVSS could and very well may win the match.

The Raiders have to come out and play great Volleyball from the onset and put Clarkson/Leigh in an early hole.

If Logan View/Scribner-Snyder can get out to a lead and force the Patriots to play from behind it will be to their advantage and benefit.

The Raiders have to respond to Tuesday night's losses in a big way this Tuesday.

It will be the start of a new month, and a clean, fresh slate for LVSS.

First serve is slated for 7:30 p.m. on the Bull.

Clarkson/Leigh 3-3 in last 6 matches

The Clarkson/Leigh Volleyball Team lost 2-0 to High Plains and 2-1 to Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family at the Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family Triangular last Thursday before winning 2-0 over Crofton and Arlington and losing 2-0 to Stanton at the Stanton Tournament on Saturday. The Patriots then swept Twin River 3-0 at home Tuesday night.

The Storm took set one from Clarkson/Leigh 25-22, and won set two 25-19.

Cassidy Hoffman had 9 kills while Kayden Schumacher totaled 12 digs. Kennedy Settje notched 9 digs while Makenna Held had 15 set assists.

The Patriots took set one from the Bulldogs 25-23 before HLHF won set two 25-16 and set three 25-12.

Settje led the way with 14 kills while Bailey Lemburg and Alissa Kasik had 8 apiece. Schumacher, Brittney Urbanek, and Taylor Larson totaled 7 apiece while Held put down 16 set assists.

Clarkson/Leigh lost set one to the Mustangs 25-12, and dropped set two 25-18.

Urbanek had 7 digs while Held notched 12 set assists.

The Patriots topped the Eagles 25-21 in set one and 25-16 in set two.

Held had 15 set assists.

Clarkson/Leigh downed the Warriors 25-13 in set one and 26-24 in set two.

Hoffman totaled 9 kills while Settje had 8 digs. Lemburg and Urbanek recorded 7 digs apiece while Held registered 17 set assists.

The Patriots defeated the Titans 25-15 in set one, 25-22 in set two, and 25-20 in set three.

Schumacher had 12 kills while Kim Stodola totaled 11. Hoffman added 9 while Held had 14 digs and 31 set assists. Settje posted 12 digs while Lemburg and Kasik each compiled 8.

Good job of persevering after tough losses by Clarkson/Leigh.

The Patriots (6-5) take part in the Hampton Tournament on Saturday.

Clarkson/Leigh faces Mead, among other teams, in this tournament.

The Patriots have had good luck in this tournament the past couple of years, winning it in both 2017 and 2018.

Clarkson/Leigh beat the Raiders in the tournament both years as well so that should help them going into this one I would think.

Mead is 9-0 so far this season though so they are the real deal it appears.

I think this tournament is an opportunity for the Patriots to do damage and pick up some wins though.

I don't know if Clarkson/Leigh will win it for the 3rd year in a row, but anything is certainly possible.

The Patriots have played well lately, and a win over the Raiders is a definite possibility in this one for sure.

Clarkson/Leigh has to be on top of their game and must play well.

The Patriots need to get multiple contributions from everyone.

Hoffman, Settje, Held, Stodola, Schumacher, Lemburg, and Kasik all need to continue to play well for Clarkson/Leigh.

I really like what the Patriots have done lately, and feel they can find even more success in this tournament.

I look for Clarkson/Leigh to pick up at least 2 or 3 wins in this tournament and perhaps finish like 3rd?

I think the first match of the day against the Raiders will tell the tale for the Patriots for the day.

I think Clarkson/Leigh can run the table through the consolation bracket, but the Patriots would much rather be in the winner's bracket I'm sure.

And though more challenging I feel Clarkson/Leigh can do well in the winner's bracket as well.

The Patriots have to come out ready to go from the get go on Saturday.

The sweep wins over Arlington, Crofton, and Twin River should really help Clarkson/Leigh heading into the Mead match.

I think the Patriots are as well equipped right now as any point in the season to take on the Raiders.

It will be interesting to see what happens and what Clarkson/Leigh can do.

West Point-Beemer 3-1 in last four matches

The West Point-Beemer Volleyball Team won 3-0 at home over Tekamah-Herman last Tuesday night, and 3-0 at Madison Thursday night before losing 2-0 to Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family and beating Logan View/Scribner-Snyder 2-1 at their home Triangular Tuesday night.

The Cadets won set one over the Tigers 25-18, set two 25-23, and set three 25-14.

Sidney Swanson had 14 kills, 8 digs, and 11 set assists while Jadyn Meiergerd totaled 9 kills and 12 digs. Katie Rainforth added 7 kills, 7 digs, and 14 set assists. Diana Cervantes added 9 digs while Lauryn Hagedorn had 8.

West Point-Beemer was down 8-3 in set one. Head Coach Scott Black. "We emphasized tonight being calm and steady with our passing. And so even though we gave up that run at the beginning of Game 2 I was confident we could comeback. And once our passing recovered we were okay, and then we started swinging, and that was the difference in that set."

The Cadets defeated the Dragons 25-14 in set one, 25-10 in set two, and 25-13 in set three.

Meiergerd and Swanson each had 8 kills while Rainforth totaled 10.

The Bulldogs defeated West Point-Beemer 25-20 in set one and 25-23 in set two.

Meiergerd had 8 kills and 10 digs while Hagedorn had 9 digs. Swanson notched 7 digs and 10 set assists.

The Raiders won set one 25-16 before the Cadets rallied to win set two 25-19 and set three 25-15.

Swanson had 13 kills, 8 digs, and 7 set assists while Meiergerd registered 7 kills and 8 digs. Cervantes compiled 13 digs while Rainforth recorded 8 digs and put down 12 set assists.

Really good come from behind win against LVSS.

West Point-Beemer easily could of folded and let the Raiders sweep the match, but the Cadets simply refused to lose.

West Point-Beemer (6-9) travels to North Bend to take on North Bend Central (9-5) on the road Thursday night in action that can be heard on 107.9 the Bull.

The Tigers won 3-2 at Oakland-Craig Tuesday night.

North Bend Central is a good, solid team, and doesn't figure to be easy for the Cadets to beat.

West Point-Beemer needs to come out and play a great match Thursday night.

The Cadets have to keep things close and battle back if they get down.

I think the team that gets behind might actually have a chance to rally and come from behind as opposed to the team that gets out in front winning.

By no means am I saying West Point-Beemer should try and get down early, but if they do I feel the comeback potential is there.

The Cadets have to come out and be on fire early and often.

West Point-Beemer needs to be clicking on all cylinders from the onset.

The Cadets have to build off what they did against the Raiders Tuesday night.

If West Point-Beemer plays the way they did in the last two sets against Logan View/Scribner-Snyder I think they could win.

The Tigers are a tough team though and have a lot of height.

The Cadets must deal and contend with the likes of Lauren and Sydney Emanuel as well as Megan Ortmeier.

West Point-Beemer has to come out and have Swanson and Meiergerd on point.

Cervantes, Hagedorn, and Rainforth have to play strong defense also.

Rainforth has to hit and pass the ball well as well.

I will throw in that Swanson and Meiergerd's defense will be critical as well.

The Cadets need a complete team effort to come away with the win.

West Point-Beemer can definitely do it and make it happen too, they just have to believe.

First serve is slated for 7:30 p.m. on the Bull.

North Bend Central outlasts Oakland-Craig in five sets

The North Bend Central Volleyball Team won 3-2 at Oakland-Craig Tuesday night.

The Knights won set one 25-14 before the Tigers took set two 25-21. Oakland-Craig won set three by the same score before North Bend Central took set four 25-14 and set five 15-12.

Good, strong win for the Tigers. It goes to show what persevering and never giving up gets you.

North Bend Central (9-5) hosts West Point-Beemer (6-9) in action that can be heard on 107.9 the Bull Thursday night.

The Cadets lost 2-0 to Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family, but beat Logan View/Scribner-Snyder 2-1 at their home Triangular Tuesday night.

West Point-Beemer started the season 1-8, but has since won 5 out of their last 6.

I feel this is a different Cadet team than what they were at the start of the season.

West Point-Beemer beat North Bend Central last year for the first time in 10 years, and I'm sure that's something the Tigers have not forgotten.

You can bet North Bend Central will be anxious and hungry to start a new streak.

These two teams had some good battles in Girls Basketball last year as well so it's always a good battle when these two get together.

I expect nothing less than a great match on Thursday either.

I look for both teams to really get after one another and play well.

I think both teams are well coached and know what's expected of them.

I think the match has a chance to go 4, maybe even 5 sets Thursday night.

I feel the Tigers have a good chance to win being at home, but you never know.

North Bend Central has to come out and jump on West Point-Beemer early.

I feel the team that starts the match the best might have the best chance to win it.

I could also see both teams overcoming slow starts too if either of them starts slow.

I think the height advantage goes to the Tigers.

North Bend Central has some tall girls, and are at their best at the net without a doubt.

I look for Lauren Emanuel, Sydney Emanuel, Megan Ortmeier, and others to all have big matches for the Tigers.

I think North Bend Central has a fairly good chance to pick up another big win heading into the David City Invitational on Saturday.

First serve is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on the Bull.

Oakland-Craig comes up short against North Bend Central

The Oakland-Craig Volleyball Team lost 3-2 at home to North Bend Central Tuesday night.

The Knights won set one 25-14 before the Tigers took set two 25-21. Oakland-Craig won set three by the same score before North Bend Central took set four 25-14 and set five 15-12.

Tough loss for the Knights. Oakland-Craig had the Tigers right where they wanted them, but couldn't quite close things out.

The Knights (7-6) battle GACC (8-4) and Arlington (3-8) at the Arlington Triangular Thursday night.

The Bluejays won 3-0 at Homer Tuesday night while the Eagles fell 2-0 to Stanton and Hartington Cedar Catholic and 2-1 to Twin River at the Stanton Invite on Saturday.

I feel Oakland-Craig will be able to beat Arlington no problem, but GACC will be really tough.

The Bluejays are 6-2 in their last 8 matches and have really come on strong lately.

I feel like the Knights have been sort of inconsistent lately, and aren't playing as well right now as they were then.

With that said, Oakland-Craig beat GACC 2-1 at the Northeast Nebraska Classic on September 7th.

I feel this time around could be different as I feel both teams have gone in opposite directions since that match in a lot of ways, but still feel the Knights can pick up the win.

Oakland-Craig has to get back to playing the type of Volleyball they've played in their wins.

The Knights have competed well in their losses against very solid competition for the most part though.

Oakland-Craig has played and faced a lot of good teams, and that figures to bode well for them Thursday night.

The Knights have already beaten the Bluejays, and know they can get the job done.

Beating a team twice is always difficult, but Oakland-Craig is definitely capable of making it happen.

The Knights just have to go out there and play solid Volleyball from start to finish, and that goes for both matches.

Oakland-Craig has to get over the hump and find some consistency.

The Knights have picked up some big wins this year, but I feel Oakland-Craig can be even better.

I would say the Knights are a solid team right now, but need to pick things up to be top of the line and great.

Oakland-Craig can definitely be that type of team too, they just need to raise their level of play and play even better than they already have been so far this year.

GACC loses to Wayne, beats O'Neill and Homer

The Guardian Angels Central Catholic Volleyball Team lost 3-0 at home to Wayne last Tuesday night before winning 3-0 at O'Neill Thursday night and 3-0 at Homer Tuesday night.

The Bluejays lost 25-16, 25-18, and 25-20 to the Blue Devils.

Sophia Hass had 8 kills and 17 digs while Evelyn Wooldrik posted 8 kills. Hanna Knobbe totaled 11 digs and 22 set assists while Erica Engelmeyer and Brooklyn Bailey recorded 10 and 9 digs, respectively.

GACC downed the Eagles 25-23 in set one, 25-20 in set two, and 25-18 in set three.

Hass registered 13 kills and 15 digs while Bailey had 10 kills and 7 blocks. Taylor Timmerman had 12 blocks while Wooldrik notched 10. Knobbe added 7 digs and 27 set assists.

The Bluejays defeated the Knights 25-13, 25-20, and 25-16.

Hass had 17 kills and 9 digs while Wooldrik recorded 9 kills and 7 blocks. Knobbe posted 26 set assists.

Two really good bounce back wins for GACC after losing to Wayne I feel.

The Bluejays (8-4) take on Oakland-Craig (7-6) and Arlington (3-8) at the Arlington Triangular Thursday night.

The Knights fell 3-2 at home to North Bend Central Tuesday night while the Eagles went 0-3 at the Stanton Tournament on Saturday, falling 2-0 to Stanton and Hartington Cedar Catholic, and 2-1 to Twin River.

I would think GACC would be able to take care of Arlington in two sets pretty easily and possibly the Knights in two sets as well with things being closer and tighter in that match.

I feel Oakland-Craig has been inconsistent as of late and the Eagles are no match for the Bluejays.

I really like how GACC responded following the loss to Wayne and how they are playing right now.

The Bluejays are 6-2 in their last 8 matches, and that's certainly quite an impressive mark.

GACC has to keep it up and has to keep applying pressure and playing well.

The Bluejays have to be relentless Thursday night, and must continue to play at a high level.

GACC is a good, strong team, and I would be shocked if the Bluejays didn't win this Triangular.

Oakland-Craig is good and has a lot of talent, and you never know about Arlington being at home and all, but I fully expect GACC to take care of business against both teams.

The Bluejays have a really tough next two weeks after this week so we'll find out just how good GACC is at that time.

The Bluejays need to sweep this Triangular and play well Thursday night to set the tone and stage for the next couple of weeks.

GACC has matches against Bishop Neumann, Battle Creek, Lutheran High Northeast, Hartington Cedar Catholic, and Wisner-Pilger from October 1st through the 10th.

Five very difficult and key matches coming up, but the Bluejays can't be looking ahead to that.

GACC has to come out and take care of business against Oakland-Craig and Arlington first.

The Bluejays' sole focus has to be on this Triangular, and nothing further down the road.

GACC can worry about those other five opponents at a later time, but for now the Bluejays have to concern themselves with beating the Knights and Eagles.

Winnebago wins own Invite; sweeps Omaha Nation at home

The Winnebago Volleyball Team is coming off four straight sweep wins, downing Omaha Nation, Walthill, and Santee 2-0 at their own Invite on Saturday before sweeping the Chiefs 3-0 at home Tuesday night.

The Indians beat Walthill 25-16 in set one and 25-7 in set two.

Winnebago topped Omaha Nation 25-15 in set one and 25-20 in set two.

The Indians defeated the Warriors 25-15 in set one and 25-13 in set two.

Winnebago defeated the Chiefs in round two 25-21, 25-17, and 25-23.

Great job by the Indians. I feel this is the best stretch of Volleyball Winnebago has played all season.

The Indians (7-3) take on Emerson-Hubbard (0-9) and BRLD (9-9) at the BRLD Triangular Thursday night.

The Wolverines lost 3-0 at Ponca on Monday while the Pirates fell 3-0 at Laurel-Concord-Coleridge last Tuesday night.

Winnebago beat the Pirates 3-1 in their home opener on September 3rd.

I think the Indians are playing better Volleyball now than they were then and am not so sure Emerson-Hubbard is playing as well right now as they were then.

So I look for Winnebago to win that match for sure, and possibly beat BRLD as well.

The Wolverines are a lot like Jekyll and Hyde. BRLD plays well for part of a match or during certain matches, but doesn't play consistently well at all times and struggles to close sets out.

Given that and the way the Indians are playing right now I think Winnebago has to feel very optimistic about their chances.

The Indians have to like their chances of winning and succeeding in this triangular.

I feel this is a step up in competition for Winnebago....at least facing the Wolverines.

A win over BRLD would be a huge win and statement for the Indians, and would turn some heads I feel.

Winnebago has a favorable schedule the rest of the season so the Indians need to come out and at least earn a split Thursday night, if not sweep the Triangular.

Winnebago has to expect to beat both teams, and has to come out and play championship Volleyball.

The Indians have to take it to the Pirates and Wolverines the entire duration of the matches and never let up.

Winnebago has to come out and hit the ball with authority and play with lots of passion, pride, toughness, tenacity, grit, and fire.

I feel the Indians have made a lot of strides this year, and now Winnebago has to go out there and continue to build upon what they have already accomplished.

I feel the Indians have done some nice things this year, now it's time to step things up even further and take that next step.

Wisner-Pilger wins home Triangular over Stanton and Pender

The Wisner-Pilger Volleyball Team won 2-1 over Stanton and 2-0 over Pender at their home Triangular Tuesday night.

The Gators defeated the Pendragons 25-18 and 25-11.

Adi Meyer had 10 set assists.

Wisner-Pilger won set one over the Mustangs 25-20, and took set three 25-14 after losing set two 25-19.

Rachel Otten had 11 kills while Emily Buhrman totaled 16 digs. Aspin Waterman had 7 digs while Meyer notched 20 set assists.

Two really good and solid wins for the Gators.

Wisner-Pilger (8-3) hosts Battle Creek (13-1) and Crofton (7-7) in a Triangular Thursday night.

The Bravettes swept Neligh-Oakdale and Osmond 2-0 at their home Triangular Tuesday night while Crofton won 3-1 at Laurel-Concord-Coleridge Tuesday night.

Battle Creek is playing extremely well right now, and it's going to take an absolutely incredible and amazing match from the Gators to come out on top.

I don't anticipate Wisner-Pilger having a ton of trouble with Crofton though.

I think it helps the Gators that they're at home and are coming off a Triangular win.

That should be beneficial for Wisner-Pilger and allow them to play with a lot of confidence.

I think a win over the Bravettes would show the Gators that they can compete with and beat the best of the best.

I feel Battle Creek is a lot like what Stanton was the last four years prior to this year.

The Bravettes have kind of taken over as the dominant team in the Norfolk area in terms of C-1 and C-2 Volleyball although Norfolk Catholic is very good as well.

Wisner-Pilger is always good and solid though, and I fully expect the Gators to give Battle Creek a good and tough match at the very least.

I think Wisner-Pilger will at least compete with the Bravettes.

It's going to take something extra and extraordinary for the Gators to win, but anything is possible.

Any team can be beaten on any given day/night, and that includes Battle Creek.

Wisner-Pilger just has to believe and be confident that it can happen because it definitely can.

"The Swamp" is a tough place to play, in my opinion, and the Gators have made it that way.

Wisner-Pilger's crowd has to really get into it and be behind the team and be loud.

The Gator faithful has to be loud and proud, and must cheer on and will the team to a victory if at all possible.

Wisner-Pilger's student section also needs to be really into the matches as well.

It's another big night of Volleyball for the Gators, and Wisner-Pilger needs to come out and perform well and at a high level.

Pender loses to Wakefield-Allen, Triangular to Stanton and Wisner-Pilger

The Pender Volleyball Team lost 3-0 at home to Wakefield-Allen Thursday night and 2-0 to Stanton and Wisner-Pilger at the Wisner-Pilger Triangular Tuesday night.

The Pendragons lost set one to the Trojans 25-12, set two 25-18, and set three 26-24.

Zoey Lehmkuhl had 7 kills, 15 digs, and 8 set assists while Ashley Ostrand posted 20 digs. Claire and Isabelle Felber each had 8 digs.

Pender lost set one to the Gators 25-18, and dropped set two 25-11.

The Mustangs topped the Pendragons 25-14 in set one and 25-13 in set two.

Really tough stretch of play for Pender.

The Pendragons (3-9) take on Howells-Dodge (10-3) and Cedar Bluffs (4-1) at the Cedar Bluffs Triangular Thursday night.

The Jaguars lost 3-0 at Lutheran High Northeast Tuesday night while the Wildcats won 3-0 at St. Edward Thursday night.

Howells-Dodge beat Pender 2-0 at the Jaguars' home Triangular on September 10th.

I don't feel either opponent has played that tough a schedule despite their good records.

I think the Pendragons have played a tougher schedule than both Howells-Dodge and Cedar Bluffs.

I'm not saying that necessarily means Pender will win against either team, but I think it gives the Pendragons a better chance.

Pender has to come out and play well and expect to win.

The Pendragons have to take the fight to both opponents, and give it all they got Thursday night.

Pender has to find a way to play better and be more consistent.

I feel the Pendragons have to play their best Volleyball to come away with a win or two.

Pender has to play better than they did on Tuesday and Thursday if they hope to come out on top.

The Pendragons started out respectable, but have lost 6 in a row.

I think a lot of that is due to the competition they have faced, but at the same time don't feel Pender is playing as well as they were in the early season.

Case in point the Pendragons beat Wakefield-Allen 2-0 at the Northeast Nebraska Classic on September 7th and then lost 3-0 to them on Thursday.

So Pender has to find a way to get back to playing at the level and type of Volleyball they were prior to losing to Howells-Dodge in the Jaguars' Triangular on September 10th.

The Pendragons have been in sort of a slump and funk in their last 6 matches and need to snap out of it.

Pender is totally capable of doing so, but has to go out there and make it happen.

I feel this is the type of Triangular where the Pendragons can just go out there and play pressure free.

I say that because I don't feel Cedar Bluffs is all that tough of a place to play.

BRLD goes 2-1 at Tekamah-Herman Invite; gets swept at Ponca

The BRLD Volleyball Team went 2-1 at the Tekamah-Herman Invite on Saturday, beating the host Tigers 2-0 and Omaha Roncalli 2-1, but losing 2-1 to Fort Calhoun. The Wolverines then went up to Ponca on Monday in action aired on 107.9 the Bull and competed hard, but ultimately fell 3-0.

The Wolverines beat the Pioneers 25-17 in set one before losing set two 25-18 and set three 25-13.

BRLD downed the Crimson Pride 25-20 in set one before dropping set two 25-23 and winning set three 29-27.

The Indians won set one 25-17, set two 25-18, and set three 25-23.

I thought the Wolverines did a nice job getting out to leads on Ponca, but BRLD just couldn't quite finish in sets two and three.

The Wolverines (9-9) host Emerson-Hubbard (0-9) and Winnebago (6-3) in a Triangular Thursday night.

The Indians beat Omaha Nation, Walthill, and Santee 2-0 at the Winnebago Invite on Saturday while the Pirates lost 3-0 at Laurel-Concord-Coleridge last Tuesday night.

I would say the match against Winnebago will be the tougher of the two, but both teams figure to come to play against BRLD.

The Wolverines have to finish what they started this time around, and pick up two wins.

I think BRLD can definitely win both matches on Thursday, and feel the Wolverines have a good chance to sweep this Triangular.

I feel BRLD is getting closer and playing good Volleyball, the best they have all season, but the Wolverines have to simply learn how to finish matches.

BRLD is young so growing pains are expected, but the Wolverines have to learn from and capitalize on their mistakes.

BRLD has to go out there and be upset about losing, and do something about it.

The Wolverines have to learn how to win against top competition.

The Indians are 6-3 on the year and are a C-1 program, and a win over them would be nice for BRLD.

The Wolverines need to not only sweep this Triangular, they need to dominate it as well.

BRLD has to come out and play well from the onset, and play inspired and with tons of passion, pride, tenacity, physical and mental toughness, grit, and fire.

The Wolverines have to hit the ball with authority and show no mercy against either team.

BRLD has to execute the fundamentals of the game and go out there and excel very well.

The Wolverines need to minimize mistakes and keep the foot on the throttle when building a big lead.

I'm not saying BRLD let up against Ponca the other night, but the Wolverines certainly didn't keep putting the pressure on the Indians, and by letting Ponca back in it it proved to be costly.

So hopefully BRLD learned their lesson in that match, and is ready to rock and roll against both Winnebago and Emerson-Hubbard Thursday night.

Howells-Dodge loses five-set thriller to Logan View/Scribner-Snyder

The Howells-Dodge Volleyball Team lost 3-2 at home to Logan View/Scribner-Snyder Thursday night in action aired on 107.9 the Bull.

It was a back and forth affair as the Raiders won set one 25-15 before the Jaguars took set two 25-13 only to see Logan View/Scribner-Snyder win set three 25-16 before Howells-Dodge bounced back to win set four 28-26 before the Raiders eventually won set five 15-9.

Riley Pokorny had 8 kills while Cassie Pieper totaled 11. Alyssa Coufal recorded 16 set assists while Lexie Brester notched 10.

Head Coach Taryn Janke's team was plagued with errors. "I mean that's been a struggle this year. We have moments where we roll and then we have moments where just the errors they kill us. We just have to somehow power through. And that's just a mindset too that we have to still get into."

The loss snapped a 10-game winning streak for the Jaguars.

Howells-Dodge (10-2) takes on Lutheran High Northeast (10-5) on the road Tuesday night.

The Eagles won 3-0 at home over Wayne Thursday night.

LHNE is battle tested and is going to be very difficult to beat.

The Eagles have played a very tough schedule and beaten some really good teams.

I don't feel the Jaguars have really been tested outside of a few matches.

Not that Howells-Dodge can't win Tuesday night, but Lutheran High Northeast is a very good Volleyball team.

I would argue that this is the best team the Jaguars have faced up to this point in the season.

Howells-Dodge is going to have to play a great match and then some to come away with the win.

The Jaguars can definitely do it too, but it won't be easy.

Howells-Dodge has to get after it on both sides of the net and play well.

The Jaguars have to play as hard as they can each and every single play.

Howells-Dodge has to also understand and realize the importance of every single play.

The Jaguars have to be focused and dialed in and in tune to everything that is going on during the course of the match.

Howells-Dodge has to be focused at all times against LHNE, and not get distracted or bothered by anything that goes on or transpires at any point in the match.

The Jaguars have to get fired up, and must play great Volleyball that is living up to their potential.

Howells-Dodge has to get over the loss to the Raiders. That was a hard fought loss.

The Jaguars now simply have to rally around each other and start a new winning streak.

Howells-Dodge is having a solid season, and has to give it their all and everything they got in this match like they have done the entire year so far.

The Jaguars have to go out there and show why they are 10-2, and that their start wasn't a fluke or anything like that.

Howells-Dodge has to step things up and play their best match of the year against the Eagles Tuesday night.

Wisner-Pilger beats Oakland-Craig, loses to North Bend Central

The Wisner-Pilger Volleyball Team won 3-1 at home over Oakland-Craig last Thursday night before falling 3-1 at North Bend Central Tuesday night.

The Knights won set one 25-20 before the Gators took set two 25-16, set three 25-19, and set four 25-14.

Rachel Otten had 9 kills while Aspin Waterman and Karrin Jindra totaled 7 each. Emily Buhrman notched 23 digs while Waterman and Jinda had 21 and 17, respectively. Adi Meyer added 9 digs and 18 set assists while Erin McGuire recorded 11 set assists.

The Tigers won set one 25-14 and set two 25-13 before Wisner-Pilger took set three 25-18. North Bend Central claimed set four 25-22.

Waterman had 11 kills and 15 digs while Jindra totaled 13 digs. Meyer registered 16 set assists while McGuire notched 8.

Great win over the Knights, but a slow start proved to be costly against the Tigers.

The Gators (6-3) take on Stanton and Pender (3-7) at their home Triangular Tuesday night.

The Mustangs lost 2-0 to Norfolk Catholic at the Norfolk Catholic Triangular Thursday night while the Pendragons were swept by Wakefield-Allen Thursday night.

Both teams figure to present tough challenges for Wisner-Pilger, but I think the Gators have a good chance to sweep this Triangular.

The Mustangs are young and lost a lot of seniors from last year and the Pendragons are young and inexperienced as well.

Wisner-Pilger has a lot of upperclassmen and is veteran laden so that along with being at home gives the Gators the advantage I feel.

That and Wisner-Pilger is a very talented and strong team.

I don't know if the Gators have anyone as strong as Jordan Wegner was for them, but it appears Wisner-Pilger has spread the wealth a little bit more offensively this year.

I feel the Gators are a solid team, and look for Wisner-Pilger to bounce back from Tuesday night's loss.

The Gators need to start off stronger on Tuesday than they did against North Bend Central.

A slow start caught up to Wisner-Pilger Tuesday night so the Gators have to come out stronger and faster out of the gate.

I fully expect the Gators to start both matches well too.

I could see Stanton perhaps winning the first set of their match, but I would look for Wisner-Pilger to win the next two if that were to happen.

I think the Gators have a good chance to win both matches on Tuesday and run their record to 8-3 on the season.

I really think next week has a chance to be a 4-0 week for Wisner-Pilger, and if it is it would be really impressive given the competition they'll be facing.

There's a lot of work to be done if that is to happen though, but it definitely can.

The Gators have to get back to playing the type of Volleyball they were prior to the North Bend Central match.

If Wisner-Pilger does that next week I look for them to be very successful.

North Bend Central 3-3 in last six matches

The North Bend Central Volleyball Team is 3-3 in their last six matches, winning 3-0 at home over Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family last Thursday night before losing 2-0 to David City Aquinas and 2-1 to Wayne at the North Bend Invite on Saturday. The Tigers beat Logan View/Scribner-Snyder 2-1 and lost 2-1 to Stanton at the North Bend Central Triangular Monday night before winning 3-1 at home over Wisner-Pilger Tuesday night.

NBC won 25-22, 25-23, and 25-18 over the Bulldogs.

The Tigers lost set one 25-22 and set two 25-19 to the Monarchs.

North Bend Central lost set one to the Blue Devils 25-11, won set two 25-23, and lost set three 25-20.

The Mustangs won set one 29-27 and set three 25-20 after the Tigers took set two 26-24.

The Raiders took set one 25-23 before NBC won set two 25-21 and set three 26-24.

The Tigers won set one over the Gators 25-14, and set two 25-13, before Wisner-Pilger won set three 25-18 only to see North Bend Central win set four 25-22 to close out the match.

Great win from North Bend Central Tuesday night. It appears the Tigers came out and played real well early, and smacked the Gators in the mouth.

North Bend Central (8-5) travels to Oakland to battle Oakland-Craig (8-4) Tuesday night.

The Knights won 3-0 at Yutan Thursday night.

Oakland-Craig is playing really good Volleyball lately, and the Tigers are playing well as of late also.

I think this match will definitely come down to the wire, and could very well be decided in five sets.

I think North Bend Central has a good chance to win this one in five sets, but things can truly go either way, in my opinion.

The Tigers need to play the way they did against Wisner-Pilger, and if they do I think they will be in good shape.

This is a match up of lots of great athletes on both teams.

NBC boasts Lauren and Sydney Emanuel, and Megan Ortmeier, while the Knights have the likes of Kennedy Benne, Bailey Helzer, Mya Guzinski, Makenna Pearson, and Rheanna Paul.

I think Oakland-Craig might be a little quicker and shiftier than the Tigers, but I give North Bend Central the advantage from a length and height standpoint.

I think the Tigers are probably longer than the Knights, and that should make for an interesting matchup.

I feel there are balls North Bend Central will be able to get to that Oakland-Craig won't be able to and vice versa.

The Tigers have to start Tuesday night's match the way they did last Tuesday night's match.

North Bend Central has to carry the momentum from that match over to this one, and play and execute well.

The Tigers have to get pumped and fired up for this one, and hit the ball with some mustard and authority.

North Bend Central has to play smart, but aggressive Volleyball Tuesday night.

The Tigers have to give it their all and leave everything out on the floor.

North Bend Central has to exert every ounce of energy in their bodies, and have nothing left in the tank after this match Tuesday night.

The Tigers have to play with the heart of a champion, and show that Tiger and school pride Tuesday night.

Oakland-Craig 4-2 in last 6 matches

The Oakland-Craig Volleyball Team is 4-2 in their last six matches, losing 3-1 at Wisner-Pilger last Thursday night before losing 2-0 to Columbus Lakeview, but beating Central City and Ord 2-0 at the Boone Central Invite on Saturday, before winning 3-1 at home over Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family Tuesday night and 3-0 at Yutan Thursday night.

The Knights took set one from the Gators 25-20 before losing set two 25-16, set three 25-19, and set four 25-14.

The Vikings downed Oakland-Craig 25-23 in set one and 29-27 in set two.

The Knights downed the Bison 25-16 in sets one and two.

Oakland-Craig beat the Chanticleers 25-12 in set one and 25-17 in set two.

The Knights topped the Chieftains 25-21 in set one, 25-20 in set two, and 34-32 in set three.

Great play from Oakland-Craig lately. I've been really impressed by the Knights' play.

Oakland-Craig (8-4) hosts North Bend Central (8-5) Tuesday night.

The Knights lost 2-1 to the Tigers in the Northeast Nebraska Classic earlier this month.

North Bend Central defeated Wisner-Pilger 3-1 at home Tuesday night.

It's a battle of two teams who are playing well and have picked it up lately.

I think the match being in Oakland helps the Knights.

I fully expect the Tigers to come out and play well though.

North Bend Central is always a good tough team on the road, and I fully expect that to be the case once again Tuesday night.

I look for things to be hotly contested and heated in this match.

It's a battle of two teams with a lot of height and great athletes.

The Knights have Kennedy Benne, Bailey Helzer, Makenna Pearson, Rheanna Paul, and others.

North Bend Central has Lauren Emanuel, Megan Ortmeier, Sydney Emanuel, and others.

It should be a great battle of star power Tuesday night.

I feel these two teams are about even, and look for the match to go five sets.

I think Oakland-Craig has been playing better as of late out of the two teams, but the Tigers' win over the Gators Tuesday night has to be taken into strong consideration when analyzing this one.

The Knights have to come out amped up and ready to go Tuesday night.

I anticipate there will be a big crowd for this one, and Oakland-Craig has to get jacked and psyched up for this one.

I look for and fully expect the Knights to play well in this one.

I think fans will see two good teams go at one another Tuesday night, and play a great match.

I feel both teams are similar in many ways, and look for things to be close throughout.

I truly feel the match could go either way.

I think it simply depends on which team brings their best game, and plays the way they have in recent wins.

Emerson-Hubbard loses Osmond Triangular to Osmond and Randolph; swept at Laurel-Concord-Coleridge

The Emerson-Hubbard Volleyball Team lost 2-0 to Randolph and Osmond at the Osmond Triangular last Thursday night before losing 3-0 at Laurel-Concord-Coleridge Tuesday night.

The Tigers won set one 25-12, and set two 25-18.

Addison Mackling had 10 digs while Madison Gunderson notched 7.

The Cardinals took set one 25-19 and set two 25-15.

Mackling totaled 11 digs while Katie Ahlers had 7.

The Bears won set one 25-8, set two 25-15, and set three 25-11.

Gunderson registered 23 digs while Isabella Parker-Diaz recorded 16. Mackling added 9 while Brianna Bousquet posted 7.

Another few matches of setbacks for the Pirates.

Emerson-Hubbard (0-9) takes on BRLD (7-7) and Winnebago (3-3) at the BRLD Triangular next Thursday night.

The dynamic of those two teams could dramatically change this weekend.

The Pirates have to spend these next several days finding themselves though.

Emerson-Hubbard has to do some soul searching, and find a way to comeback to the court better than when they last left it.

The Pirates have continued to play good defense, but the offensive woes and struggles continue.

Emerson-Hubbard really struggles to score and put up kills and points.

The Pirates need to work on their offensive efficiency in practice and take the extra time to get more swings in and prepare for these two teams.

The Indians beat Emerson-Hubbard 3-1 in Winnebago earlier in the season so perhaps the Pirates will find a way to win this time around.

A win of any sort would be big for Emerson-Hubbard right now.

I feel like the Pirates really need a win to get things jump started.

Right now Emerson-Hubbard is kind of in neutral mode.

The Pirates simply have to put their best foot forward and get in fast forward.

Emerson-Hubbard has to continue to work hard and push one another in practice.

This is the final season for Emerson-Hubbard as a Volleyball Team as they will be combining with Wakefield and Allen next year so the Pirates have to make the most of their final season as E-H.

The Pirates really need to figure something out between now and next Thursday to get on track.

Emerson-Hubbard can definitely get on track and go on to have a successful season, but things need to change soon.

The Pirates have to keep their heads up and keep battling and fighting.

Emerson-Hubbard has to stay positive and overcome the obstacles they are currently facing.

The Pirates have to do their best to make their last season as Emerson-Hubbard one to remember.

Winnebago sweeps home Triangular; falls at Ponca

The Winnebago Volleyball Team won 2-1 over Omaha Christian Academy and 2-0 over Walthill at their home Triangular last Thursday night before losing 3-0 at Ponca Tuesday night.

The Indians downed the Blujays 25-12 in set one and 25-19 in set two.

The Indians took set one from the Eagles 26-24, and won set three 25-15 after losing set two 25-19.

Ponca won set one 25-10, set two 25-8, and set three 25-21.

I thought Winnebago did really well in their home Triangular, and pushed Ponca in the last set.

Winnebago (3-3) hosts the Winnebago Invite on Saturday.

Other teams in the tournament include Omaha Nation, Walthill, and Santee.

I think the Indians have a great chance to go 3-0 in this tournament.

Winnebago has already beaten Walthill, and should beat Santee fairly easily I would think.

The Chiefs figure to be tough, but I think being at home helps the Indians.

Winnebago ought to be happy with being at .500 right now, but has to want more.

The Indians can't be satisfied with where they're currently at, they have to keep pushing and pressing forward.

Winnebago has shown improvement so far this year I think, and that has to continue on Saturday.

The Indians have to be pumped and fired up for this tournament, and must be excited to play on Saturday.

Winnebago has to wake up ready to play great Volleyball all day long.

The Indians have to eat the breakfast of champions and be motivated, excited, and ready to go come Saturday.

Winnebago also needs a good night's sleep with the football team being off this week.

The team needs proper rest so they can come with and bring lots of energy on Saturday.

The Indians have to focus on competing hard and winning.

Winnebago has to find ways to be Queens of the Court on Saturday, and take this Invite.

The Indians have to play with the heart of a champion, and show that they are the superior team on Saturday.

If Winnebago can get to 6-3 that would be a huge and tremendous accomplishment for this team and program.

It can definitely happen too, and the Indians should expect it to happen.

Winnebago has to come out excited, thrilled, and motivated to play the game on Saturday.

The Indians have to take it to the Chiefs, Blujays, and Warriors.

Tekamah-Herman goes 0-3 at Boone Central Invite; loses at West Point-Beemer

The Tekamah-Herman Volleyball Team went 0-3 at the Boone Central Invite on Saturday, losing 2-0 to Columbus Lakeview, Crofton, and Boone Central/Newman Grove. The Tigers were also swept 3-0 at West Point-Beemer Tuesday night in action aired on 107.9 the Bull.

The Cardinals took sets one and two 25-16.

The Warriors won set one 27-25 and set two 25-14.

The Vikings claimed set one 25-14, and set two 25-17.

The Cadets won set one 25-18, set two 25-23, and set three 25-14.

The Tigers have shown the ability to play well in certain sets, but a lack of consistent play has ultimately hurt them I feel.

Tekamah-Herman (1-11) hosts their own Invite on Saturday.

Other teams in the tournament include BRLD, Omaha Roncalli, and Fort Calhoun.

The Wolverines already beat the Tigers while Roncalli is having a down year so far. The Pioneers are having a season a lot like BRLD.

I think Tekamah-Herman can do well in this tournament, but it won't be easy.

The Tigers simply have to step things up to do well.

It has been a tough season for Tekamah-Herman so far this year, but the Tigers have to keep fighting and battling.

The Tigers need something to spark them, someone to step up, or something.

Tekamah-Herman desperately needs a lift and something to go right for them.

The Tigers have to rise up and create their own momentum.

Tekamah-Herman has to find the fight and will from within to get going.

Perhaps this is the tournament that will change the Tigers' fortunes this season.

So far Tekamah-Herman hasn't had the best luck this year, but perhaps that will change on Saturday.

The Tigers have to be positive and must come out ready to play.

Tekamah-Herman has to come out inspired and ready to roll on Saturday.

The Tigers have to give all three opponents their best shot, and show them what they are made of and do everything in their power to win.

Tekamah-Herman has to give it their all, and do everything possible to do well on Saturday.

The Tigers have to come out and play with a lot of heart, passion, pride, toughness, tenacity, fire, and grit.

Tekamah-Herman has to give it all they got and leave it all out on the floor.

The Tigers have to play with a lot of guts to get the glory.

Tekamah-Herman has to exert every ounce of energy in their body and have nothing left in the tank after Saturday's matches.

BRLD goes 2-3 at Wakefield Tournament; swept at Fremont Bergan

The BRLD Volleyball Team went 2-3 at the Wakefield Tournament last week, losing 2-1 to Hartington Cedar Catholic before winning 2-1 over Wakefield-Allen last Thursday night. On Saturday, the Wolverines fell 2-0 to Lutheran High Northeast and Ponca, and won 2-0 over Pierce. BRLD lost 3-0 at Fremont Bergan Tuesday night.

The Wolverines lost set one to Cedar Catholic 25-15, won set two 25-17, and then dropped set three 25-23.

Caragan Tietz and Megan Beutler tallied 9 kills apiece while Alyssa Buchholz had 7. Kinlee Bacon added 23 set assists.

Wakefield-Allen won set one 25-15 before BRLD won the next two sets 25-13 and 25-22.

The Indians won set one 25-16 and set two 25-20.

The Wolverines took set one over the Bluejays 25-19, and set two 25-23.

The Knights took set one 25-10, set two 25-22, and set three 25-18.

The last few losses have been tough for BRLD, coming to really good teams.

The Wolverines (7-7) take part in the Tekamah-Herman Invite on Saturday.

Other teams in the tournament are Tekamah-Herman, Omaha Roncalli, and Fort Calhoun.

A chance for BRLD to pick up some more wins it appears.

The Tigers are struggling this year while the Crimson Pride is just 1-4. The Pioneers are having a similar season to what the Wolverines are having.

That's why I think BRLD has a chance to win this Invite.

The Wolverines have been sluggish and struggling lately though so BRLD needs to step up their game in order to do well on Saturday.

BRLD gave Cedar Catholic all they could handle and then some, and that's the level the Wolverines need to play at against tough teams.

If BRLD can get to playing the way they did in that match they can be even that much more successful, in my opinion.

The Wolverines have a chance to win some matches and become consistent in this Invite I feel.

BRLD has to step things up and play better than they have in their last three losses.

The Wolverines have done a lot of nice things this year, but have gone through their fair share of struggles too.

BRLD has to find ways to improve and play better Volleyball than they have as a whole this season.

I feel the Wolverines have kind of stayed the same in terms of winning and losing matches and by how much so far this year so gaining some consistency in their play and finding ways to make sets closer and also finding ways to win more matches would all be very good for BRLD.

I feel the Wolverines can get on track with this tournament and take some steps forward.

BRLD has lots of likely wins coming up, but also some toss up matches.

Becoming consistent with their play and playing at a high level could allow the Wolverines to get over the hump and win some of those toss up matches, in my opinion.

BRLD just has to focus on this weekend though.

The Wolverines have had a couple of days to digest Tuesday night's loss so hopefully they are ready to go by Saturday.

I fully expect BRLD to play well and have a good showing in this Invite.

Logan View/Scribner-Snyder 1-5 in last six matches

The Logan View/Scribner-Snyder Volleyball Team is 1-5 in their last six matches, losing 2-0 to Omaha Gross and DC West at the Bishop Neumann Invite on Saturday while losing 2-1 to Bennington at that Tournament as well. The Raiders also lost 2-1 to North Bend Central and 2-0 to Stanton at the North Bend Central Triangular Monday night before winning 3-0 at Pender Tuesday night.

The Falcons downed the Raiders 25-18 in set one, and 25-23 in set two.

Dream Daugherty had 11 kills while Emily Lewin registered 13 digs. Stormy Poast totaled 9 digs while Adrian Kroeker had 7. Reagan Klein put down 13 set assists.

The Badgers won set one 26-24 before LVSS took set two 25-17. Bennington won set three 25-20.

Lewin registered 15 kills and 17 digs while Daugherty had 10 kills and 14 digs. Tyler Christianson contributed 9 digs while Klein posted 9 digs and 27 set assists. Poast added 8 digs.

The Cougars defeated the Raiders 25-16 in set one and 25-12 in set two.

Poast had 9 digs while Daugherty compiled 7. Klein added 10 set assists.

LVSS lost 25-22 in set one to the Mustangs, and fell 25-11 in set two.

Lewin totaled 10 kills while Klein registered 11 set assists.

The Raiders won set one over the Tigers 25-23 before NBC took set two 25-21 and set three 26-24.

Daugherty contributed 12 kills and 9 digs while Lewin compiled 11 kills. Poast had 11 digs while Kristal Svehla recorded 10. Klein chipped in 30 set assists.

LVSS beat the Pendragons 25-20 in sets one and two, and won set three 25-14.

Lewin had 14 kills and 11 digs while Daugherty added 13 digs and Christianson 9. Klein tacked on 17 set assists.

Lots of girls stepping up for the Raiders lately, but not a lot of wins to show for it.

Logan View-Scribner-Snyder (6-7) battles Howells-Dodge (10-1) on the road Thursday night in action that can be heard on 107.9 the Bull.

The Jaguars won 3-1 at Wakefield-Allen Tuesday night.

Howells-Dodge has won 10 straight while LVSS snapped a five-match losing streak with a win over the Pendragons.

I think the Raiders gained a lot of momentum by beating Pender and can carry that over to Thursday night's match.

The match could go either way, in my opinion, although I did pick the Jaguars to win given how they've played lately and the fact they are at home.

LVSS is at home for a bunch of matches after this so the Raiders have to give themselves something good to feel about heading into these home matches.

Logan View/Scribner-Snyder has to play well and up to their potential to come away with a win in this one.

The Jaguars have been very good and consistent, but haven't been tested a whole lot I feel.

I think the Raiders will provide for a really tough test for Howells-Dodge.

I look for this match to be a thriller and go five sets.

It wouldn't surprise me one bit if things came down to the final point and/or extra points as well.

I think these two teams are evenly matched in a lot of ways, and both have a lot of talent and experience.

I'm not going to lie I have been very impressed by the Jaguars' solid start.

With that said, LVSS has played well at times this year too and could easily get themselves back on track in the next few weeks.

I look for the Raiders to build off the Pender match on Tuesday and play well and turn in another strong performance Thursday night.

It should be a dandy and whale of a match Thursday night, and I'm very excited to see how it all shakes out.

First serve from Dodge is slated for 7:30 p.m. on the Bull.

Howells-Dodge wins own Tournament, defeats Wakefield-Allen

The Howells-Dodge Volleyball Team won their own tournament on Saturday, defeating Elkhorn Valley 2-1, and Elgin Public/Pope John and Shelby/Rising City 2-0 before winning 3-1 at Wakefield-Allen Tuesday night.

The Jaguars beat the Wolfpack 25-21 in set one and 25-23 in set two.

Taya VanLengen had 11 digs while Alyssa Coufal and Lexie Brester totaled 11 and 10 set assists, respectively.

Howells-Dodge won over the Falcons 25-19 in set one, and 25-15 in set three after losing set two 25-22.

The Jaguars defeated the Huskies 25-9 in set one and 26-24 in set two.

The Trojans won set one 25-23 before Howells-Dodge took set two 30-28, set three 27-25, and set four 25-22.

The Jaguars are playing really good Volleyball right now. All Howells-Dodge has done this year is win.

The Jaguars (10-1) host Logan View/Scribner-Snyder (6-7) Thursday night in action that can be aired on 107.9 the Bull.

The Raiders won 3-0 at Pender Tuesday night.

LVSS had lost five in a row prior so I think Howells-Dodge is getting the Raiders at a good time.

The Jaguars have won 10 in a row and are rolling right now.

Howells-Dodge will definitely be challenged in this one though.

As much success as the Jaguars have had, they've played a lot of D-1 or D-2 Schools, and C-2 schools with losing records.

Logan View/Scribner-Snyder is a solid C-1 team, and will definitely be tough for Howells-Dodge.

The Jaguars have found ways to win the close matches this year though and I look for that to be the case once again Thursday night.

I have Howells-Dodge taking this one in five.

The match is in Dodge, and I feel the Jaguars have the advantage being at home.

That and Howells-Dodge has won 10 straight while LVSS just lost five in a row.

I wouldn't be shocked or surprised one bit if the Raiders won though.

Logan View/Scribner-Snyder is a good team, and will be no slouch coming into this one.

The Jaguars definitely have their work cut out for them Thursday night there's no doubt about that.

But I do look for Howells-Dodge to persevere and find a way to win.

If this match was at Logan View I would give the advantage to the Raiders, but it's at Howells-Dodge.

I look for both teams to really get after one another and make for a great and good solid match.

It should be a heck of a match and battle, and I'll be excited to see who comes out on top.

First serve from Dodge is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on the Bull.

Clarkson/Leigh sweeps Pender

The Clarkson/Leigh Volleyball Team swept Pender 3-0 at home Thursday night.

The Patriots won set one 25-19, set two 25-16, and set three 30-28.

Cassidy Hoffman had 14 kills while Kennedy Settje recorded 10 kills and 12 digs. Kim Stodola added 10 kills while Kayden Schumacher posted 9 kills and 18 digs. Brittany Urbanek added 18 digs while Bailey Lemburg and Alissa Kasik had 9 each. Makenna Held compiled 35 set assists.

Great activity, statistics, and match for Clarkson/Leigh.

The Patriots (3-2) take on High Plains (4-4) and Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family (2-4) at the Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family Triangular Thursday night.

The Storm beat Riverside 2-1 at the Riverside Triangular Tuesday night.

The Bulldogs, on the other hand, topped Exeter-Milligan and Friend 2-0 at the Friend Invitational on Saturday.

I feel Clarkson/Leigh has a good shot to beat both teams.

The Patriots have been off for a week so they've had time to rest and practice and get ready for both teams.

I really think Clarkson/Leigh has a good chance to take both matches Thursday night.

The Patriots have learned how to finish matches and their losses were close defeats to two very good teams.

Two wins Thursday night would be huge for Clarkson/Leigh.

I think two wins would show that the Patriots have a lot of talented girls on the team and that they can be as good as last year's seniors were.

This team has come together nicely in a short amount of time, and I look for that translate into more good play Thursday night.

Clarkson/Leigh has the Stanton Tournament on Saturday so I think a couple of wins on Thursday will definitely help build and boost the momentum heading into that one.

The Patriots received a lift and a boost last week by picking up a couple of wins and now need to build on that Thursday night.

Clarkson/Leigh played a complete match against Pender, and that's the type of effort the Patriots need night in and night out.

These girls have all stepped up nicely and played their roles very well.

I've been very impressed with Clarkson/Leigh so far and look for the Patriots to continue their winning ways Thursday night.

Imagine what this team will be like too when and if they get back Ashlynn Novotny from injury.

I feel this team would be even stronger with her.

Pender swept by Clarkson/Leigh and LVSS

The Pender Volleyball Team fell 3-0 at Clarkson/Leigh Thursday night before losing 3-0 at home to Logan View/Scribner-Snyder Tuesday night.

The Patriots won set one 25-19, set two 25-16, and set three 30-28.

The Pendragons lost sets one and two to the Raiders 25-20, and dropped set four 25-14.

Ashley Ostrand had 7 kills and 19 digs while Zoey Lehmkuhl and Claire Felber notched 14 and 7 digs, respectively.

I thought Pender competed well in a couple of the sets in both matches, but just couldn't string enough good plays together to win any sets it appears.

The Pendragons (3-6) host Wakefield-Allen (6-7) Thursday night.

The Trojans lost 3-1 at home to Howells-Dodge Tuesday night.

It should be a good, entertaining, and compelling match.

One I think Pender can definitely win for sure.

The Pendragons just have to string some good sets together and find a way to get over the hump.

Pender has played well at times this year, now it's simply a matter of becoming consistent.

I think the Pendragons are doing well considering they are young and don't have sophomore Caitlyn Heise due to injury.

Pender has to keep working hard and keep building and keep playing their best and up to their potential.

The Pendragons need to turn in a great performance Thursday night in order to pick up the win.

Pender has a tough slate of matches coming up in the next couple of weeks so the Pendragons really need to get this one.

This is kind of a must win for Pender because if they don't get this one it's going to be even tougher going into the next couple of weeks.

Win and there's positive momentum on your side with a better chance for success the next couple of weeks.

Lose Thursday night and team morale and confidence could be down a little bit.

It's always easier to head into matches with your last match being a win as opposed to a loss.

Losing can be discouraging for sure, and so the Pendragons must do everything in their power to win Thursday night.

Pender is also playing a school in Wakefield that could be considered a rival so beating the Trojans would make things even that much sweeter for that very reason I am sure.

The Pendragons have to come out and attack and be relentless Thursday night.

Pender has to be very active and move and dive for loose balls and be on the tips of their toes.

The Pendragons have to play with lots of fire, passion, pride, mental and physical toughness, tenacity, and grit.
