Winnebago swept by Madison and Laurel-Concord-Coleridge

The Winnebago Volleyball Team was swept 3-0 at home by Madison Tuesday night and Laurel-Concord-Coleridge at home Thursday night.

The Dragons defeated the Indians 25-11 in set one, 29-27 in set two, and 25-23 in set three.

The Bears won set one 25-21, set two 25-17, and set three 25-10.

I thought Winnebago did a nice job competing hard in two sets of both matches.

The Indians (6-14) take on Homer (8-17) and Wakefield-Allen (9-11) at the Homer Triangular Thursday night.

The Knights beat Pender 3-1 at home Tuesday night while the Trojans swept Emerson-Hubbard 3-0 on the road Tuesday night.

Both matches figure to be pretty challenging for Winnebago, but I think the Indians can compete given how close they came to winning a couple of sets in each match last week.

Winnebago needs to use these matches as gear ups for the Lewis and Clark Conference Tournament.

The Indians have to be tough at the net and in the back row, and show the ability to handle tough serves and hits.

Winnebago has to execute in all facets of the game and make the Knights and Trojans earn their points.

Players to watch out for for Homer include Emily Rasmussen and Hannah Harris.

Devaney Brown is a player to watch out for for Wakefield-Allen.

I think the key for the Indians is trying to slow down each team's best players and force other players to beat them.

Winnebago has to play their hearts out Thursday night and build on what they accomplished last week.

The Indians have dropped 3 in a row and are just 3-10 in their last 13 matches, but I thought Winnebago played hard and competed well last week, especially against Laurel-Concord-Coleridge.

I think the Indians can be even more competitive and accomplish more next week, and perhaps pick up a set win or a win in general.

Winnebago has to work hard, remain humble, and give it all they got.

There's not a lot of season left for the Indians to get things figured out so now is the time to get things figured out if you are Winnebago.

The Indians will have had a lot of time, an entire week as a matter of fact, to practice for these matches so I fully expect the Indians to come out and play well and at a high level, and have a good showing.
