Pender 2-4 in last six contests

The Pender Volleyball Team is 2-4 in their last six matches, going 1-1 at their home Triangular Thursday night against Neligh-Oakdale and Emerson-Hubbard, losing 2-1 to the Warriors and beating the Pirates 2-0 before going 0-3 at the Clarkson/Leigh Invite on Saturday, losing 2-1 to Oakland-Craig, and 2-0 to CWC and Cross County. The Pendragons then turned around and won 3-2 at home over Tekamah-Herman Tuesday night.

The Pendragons defeated the Pirates 25-11 in set one and 25-8 in set two.

Zoey Lehmkuhl had 7 ace serves and 13 set assists.

Neligh-Oakdale won sets one and three 25-22 while Pender took set two 25-21.

Sadie Lamplot notched 15 kills while Ashley Ostrand and Kaylin Sandall had 9 and 7 digs, respectively. Lehmkuhl registered 21 set assists.

The Pendragons won the first set over the Knights 25-20 before Oakland-Craig won the second set 25-15 and the third set 25-17.

Brittni Beckman posted 7 kills while Lamplot contributed 12 digs. Sandall added 10 digs while Lehmkuhl compiled 7 digs and 12 set assists.

Pender lost sets one and two 25-13 to the Renegades.

Sandall had 12 digs while Rylee Lehmkuhl chipped in 9.

The Cougars took set one 25-14 and set two 25-16.

The Tigers won set one 25-23 before the Pendragons claimed set two 25-22 and set three 25-15. Tekamah-Herman won set four 25-19 before Pender took set five 15-5.

Lamplot totaled 10 kills and 9 digs while Ostrand posted 9 kills and 20 digs. Beckman had 9 kills while Zoey Lehmkuhl posted 19 digs and 30 set assists. Sandall added 15 digs while Rylee Lehmkuhl tallied 7.

I feel like the Pendragons played good Volleyball for much of this stretch, but also struggled at times too.

Pender (5-14) hosts Oakland-Craig (7-14) in action that can be heard on 107.9 the Bull Thursday night.

The Knights lost 2-1 to DC West, but beat West Point-Beemer 2-0 at the DC West Triangular Tuesday night.

These two teams are very familiar with one another and are very similar teams.

Oakland-Craig appears to be starting to figure things out, but the Pendragons have played good Volleyball at times too lately.

I feel the Knights have been a little better, but I still look for Pender to compete hard in this match.

The Pendragons have a chance to pick up a couple more wins before and improve their seeding for the East Husker Conference Tournament.

Pender is at Homer Tuesday night, and if the Pendragons could get this one against Oakland-Craig and the match against Homer, they would be sitting in respectable shape for the Conference Tournament.

You have to wonder how much Pender has left in the tank though after playing four days last week and then a five setter Tuesday night.

One thing is for sure...endurance, stamina, and strength will be put to the test for the Pendragons Thursday night.

Oakland-Craig has played a lot of matches lately as well, but not as many as Pender.

The Knights figure to be a bit tired themselves although I see Oakland-Craig being fresher than the Pendragons.

The Pendragons are just going to have to suck it up and play hard.

Pender is off for 5 days after Thursday night so after Thursday the Pendragons can sit back and relax.

But for right now and for Thursday Pender has to have their minds in the right place.

This game is just as much mental as it is physical, and the Pendragons can't be thinking of how tired and sore their bodies must be.

Pender has to go out there and play a good match and perform at a high level.

First serve is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. in Pender and on the Bull.
