North Bend Central goes 1-2 at East Husker Conference Tournament; sweeps Howells-Dodge
The North Bend Central Volleyball Team went 1-2 at the East Husker Conference Tournament last week, losing 2-1 to West Point-Beemer at Stanton Thursday night before beating Pender 2-0, but losing 2-0 to Oakland-Craig at home in the tournament on Saturday. The Tigers swept Howells-Dodge 3-0 at home Tuesday night.
North Bend Central won set one 25-17 over the Cadets before dropping set two 25-23 and set three 25-22.
The Tigers beat the Pendragons 25-17 in the first set and 25-16 in the second set.
North Bend Central lost sets one and two 25-19 to the Knights.
The Tigers took set one from the Jaguars 25-22, won set two 27-25, and took set three 25-16.
I thought North Bend Central did a nice job rebounding Tuesday night from a tough tournament showing last week.
The Tigers (10-12) take on Columbus Lakeview (18-11) on the road Thursday night.
The Vikings lost 2-0 to Bishop Neumann and Omaha Concordia at the Omaha Concordia Triangular Tuesday night.
Lakeview has a few nice wins, but nothing that really stands out and wows you.
I think North Bend Central has the potential to go in there and win.
The Tigers are coming off a sweep of the Jaguars Tuesday night, and perhaps that win was the spark North Bend Central has been looking for.
The Tigers will be challenged the rest of the season for the most part so when the going gets tough the tough has to get going for North Bend Central.
The Tigers are jockeying for Sub-District seeding, and are 3rd right now in their sub-district, but breathing right down West Point-Beemer and Logan View/Scribner-Snyder's necks.
It's going to come down to the final couple of matches to see who gets what seed in that sub-district.
One thing is for sure though...C1-6 is wide open and anyone can win it.
The Cadets have started to pick up their play lately so North Bend Central has to do the same, and perhaps they already have.
The Tigers and Cadets appear to be the two hottest teams in the sub-district right now, but it will be interesting to see if the two have to face off in the first sub-district match for both teams.
North Bend Central has to be worried about and focused on Lakeview right now though.
A win over the Vikings would be a big deal and would really bolster the Tigers' postseason seeding without a doubt.
North Bend Central has to go in there believing they can win and come away with the victory.
The Tigers have to expect to win, and can't be scared of Lakeview whatsoever.
North Bend Central has to give it all they got, and execute in all facets of the game.
The Tigers have to serve, pass, hit, block, and serve receive well.
North Bend Central has to have good court awareness and presence, and know when balls are going to be in or out.
That goes along with good communication, which is also something the Tigers need to have.
