Howells-Dodge goes 0-3 at Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family Round Robin
The Howells-Dodge Volleyball Team went 0-3 at the Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family Round Robin on Saturday, losing 2-0 to Twin River, Clarkson/Leigh, and the host Bulldogs.
Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family topped the Jaguars 25-17 in set one and 25-18 in set two.
The Patriots claimed the opening set 25-14, and won set two 25-18.
The Titans won set one 25-15 and set two 25-23.
I don't know if Howells-Dodge is dealing with a bunch of injuries or not, but the Jaguars are really struggling right now.
Howells-Dodge (13-9) looks to resurrect things in the East Husker Conference Tournament this week and weekend.
First up for the Jaguars, who will host as the 4 seed, will be Tekamah-Herman.
In my opinion, this is a scary match for Howells-Dodge, who has dropped 4 straight.
Tekamah-Herman pushed North Bend Central to the brink last week, and you just never know what might happen.
The winner gets the winner of Twin River and Pender and the loser gets the loser of that game so it should be interesting to see what happens.
The Jaguars have picked the wrong time of year to struggle though.
Granted Howells-Dodge has played some tough and difficult teams, but the Jaguars were playing good Volleyball up until the Stanton match last week.
Howells-Dodge has to put their past struggles behind them and regroup.
The Jaguars are a good, solid team, they just need to get back on the right track.
Howells-Dodge can definitely do that too, and make a run in this tournament.
Getting past Twin River should both teams win though seems pretty difficult given how Saturday's match went.
The Jaguars just have to focus on beating the Tigers and then worry about the second match of the tournament though.
Howells-Dodge has the home court advantage so that should help, but anyone is beatable on any given night.
And given how things have gone for the Jaguars in the last week it wouldn't shock me if they were an upset victim.
Howells-Dodge could avoid being upset too, but an upset is definitely possible Thursday night, in my opinion.
Again, I don't know if the Jaguars are dealing with injuries or anything of that nature, but one has to wonder given the recent results of Howells-Dodge's matches.
Regardless, the Jaguars have to come out tough on Thursday and play well.
