GACC falls at home in five to Battle Creek

The Guardian Angels Central Catholic Volleyball Team lost 3-2 at home to Battle Creek Tuesday night.

The Braves won set one 25-16 and set two 25-19 before the Bluejays won set three 25-21 and set four 27-25 before dropping set five 19-17.

Sophia Hass notched 11 kills and 26 digs while Evelyn Wooldrik totaled 10 kills and 10 blocks. Brooklyn Bailey added 8 kills while Hanna Knobbe had 34 digs. Meghan Brunsing recorded 20 digs and 20 set assists while Reece Snodgrass registered 20 digs and 8 set assists. Ally Plagge chipped in 19 digs.

GACC really cranked things up in the last three sets. Had the Bluejays played like that the whole time they probably would of won. Better late than never for GACC though.

The Bluejays (7-8) take on Wisner-Pilger (11-6) and Lutheran High Northeast (16-6) at the Lutheran High Northeast Triangular Thursday night.

The Gators swept BRLD and Madison 2-0 at the Wisner-Pilger Double Triangular last Tuesday night while the Eagles won 2-0 over Shelby/Rising City and Clarkson/Leigh at the Clarkson/Leigh Triangular Tuesday night.

Both Wisner-Pilger and LHNE are tough, and are going to require GACC's best effort to be beat.

The Bluejays must play the way they did in the final three sets against the Braves to be able to win both matches, in my opinion.

GACC did something to break out of their mold Tuesday night....they found a spark and played better Volleyball the last three sets.

The Bluejays have to play with that same fire, intensity, passion, and determination Thursday night.

GACC has to take pride in their play, and want to do well.

The Bluejays have to try and slow down Jordan Wegner for the Gators.

Wegner is a big time hitter for Wisner-Pilger, and is going to require lots of attention.

Wisner-Pilger is also in the Bluejays' Sub-District so the match has a lot of meaning from that standpoint too.

It's time for GACC to get back to their roots and play great Volleyball.

The Bluejays showed flashes of it Tuesday night now they just need to gain some consistency and go out there and play at a high level on a nightly basis.

Perhaps this is the Triangular that turns the season around for GACC.

The Bluejays have been fluttering around the .500 mark lately, and perhaps GACC will get over the hump in these matches.

The Bluejays are on the road the rest of the season so now is the time to step things up and play the game the way GACC knows how.

I feel the Bluejays are at their best when their back is against the wall, and that could very well be the case in a number of matches throughout the rest of the season.

I'm waiting for GACC to make a run, to start playing Volleyball the way I know they are capable of, and perhaps that will happen starting Thursday night.
