Clarkson/Leigh goes 3-1 at East Husker Conference Tournament; sweeps Oakland-Craig
The Clarkson/Leigh Volleyball Team went 3-1 at the East Husker Conference Tournament last week, beating Madison and Logan View/Scribner-Snyder 2-0 at home last Thursday night before losing 2-1 to Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family and beating Twin River 2-0 at North Bend Central on Saturday. The Patriots then swept Oakland-Craig 3-0 on the road Tuesday night.
Clarkson/Leigh defeated the Dragons 25-6 in set one and 25-13 in set two.
Cassidy Hoffman had 10 kills while Hannah Kasik notched 10 kills and 11 digs. Ashlynn Novotny recorded 8 kills while Holly Kuhr posted 7 digs. Kaegan Held notched 7 digs and 21 set assists.
The Patriots topped the Raiders 25-18 in the first set and 25-13 in set two.
Novotny registered 8 kills while Halee Steffensmeier recorded 15 digs. Kuhr and Sara McEvoy tallied 8 digs apiece while Held dished out 19 set assists.
The Bulldogs earned 25-18 wins in sets one and three over Clarkson/Leigh while the Patriots took set two 29-27.
Novotny led the way with 13 kills while Kasik posted 10 kills and 19 digs. Steffensmeier registered 27 digs while McEvoy had 11. Held posted 11 digs and 30 set assists.
Clarkson/Leigh won set one 25-22 over the Titans, and took set two 25-18.
Novotny recorded 8 kills while Steffensmeier and Kasik notched 9 and 7 digs, respectively. Held dished out 19 set assists.
The Patriots topped the Knights 25-10 in set one, 25-23 in set two, and 27-25 in set three.
Kasik had 12 kills and 23 digs while Novotny compiled 7 kills and 10 digs. Hoffman added 7 kills while Steffensmeier notched 19 digs. Held added 14 kills and 27 set assists while McEvoy recorded 13 digs.
Great and outstanding play from Clarkson/Leigh last week and this week. I feel the Patriots picked up their game and improved in the Conference Tournament and again on Tuesday.
Clarkson/Leigh (22-7) takes on Pender (7-19) on the road Monday night to close out the regular season in action that can be heard on 107.9 the Bull.
The Pendragons lost 3-2 at BRLD Tuesday night.
Pender is certainly an improving team who is on the rise, and it won't be easy for the Patriots to knock off the Pendragons, especially on their home court, in my opinion.
Pender appears to be playing their best Volleyball of the season, and this is their final home match of the year.
Clarkson/Leigh is playing great Volleyball too though, and I'm sure the Patriots would love to go into Pender and end the regular season on a high note.
I feel Clarkson/Leigh is playing their best Volleyball of the season right now, and has raised their level of play at the right time.
I look for the Patriots to go into Pender and come away with a sweep or four set win at worst.
Kasik, Novotny, Steffensmeier, Held, Hoffman, and McEvoy have played great Volleyball for Clarkson/Leigh all season.
A win would be a fitting way for the Patriots to end the regular season.
To get the job done Clarkson/Leigh will need the same type of production they got Tuesday night and in the EHC Tournament.
I'm sure the Patriots have big dreams and big ideas, and taking care of business against the Pendragons would be good momentum heading into Sub-Districts.
Clarkson/Leigh has been on a roll lately, and finally got over that hump and took a set from a team like Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family.
The Patriots have to look and be as sharp as possible Monday night, and assert themselves and play up to their potential against Pender.
There's a lot left for Clarkson/Leigh to accomplish before season's end, and a win over the Pendragons to end the regular season would set the stage for the postseason, in my opinion.
On paper this one looks like a total mismatch, and the Patriots have to do their best to make that be the case on the court.
First serve is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on the Bull.
