West Point-Beemer goes 2-2 at East Husker Conference Tournament
The West Point-Beemer Volleyball Team went 2-2 at the East Husker Conference Tournament last week, winning 2-0 over North Bend Central, but losing 2-0 at Stanton on Thursday before defeating Howells-Dodge 2-0 and losing 2-0 to Wisner-Pilger at North Bend Central on Saturday.
The Tigers won set one over the Cadets 25-17 before West Point-Beemer won set two 25-23 and set three 25-22.
Sidney Swanson had 11 kills and 22 digs while Brooklyn Weddle and Ashton Troyer notched 13 and 7 digs, respectively. Sierra Kile added 27 set assists.
The Cadets lost 25-16 in set one and 25-19 in set two to the Mustangs.
Swanson had 7 digs while Kile registered 7 digs and 11 set assists.
West Point-Beemer defeated the Jaguars 25-21 in sets one and two.
Swanson totaled 11 kills and 11 digs while Weddle posted 10 digs. Kile compiled 10 digs and 26 set assists.
The Cadets lost 25-16 in the first set and 25-23 in the second set to the Gators.
Swanson recorded 10 kills and 7 digs while Kendra Paasch notched 7 kills. Weddle and Katie Rainforth had 18 and 7 digs, respectively. Kile added 24 set assists.
I thought West Point-Beemer played fairly respectable in this tournament.
The Cadets (12-14) take on Boone Central/Newman Grove (3-21) on the road Tuesday night in action that will be aired on 107.9 the Bull.
The Cardinals were swept 3-0 at Hartington Cedar Catholic Thursday night.
I look for West Point-Beemer to go into Albion and come away with a big win.
This is the point in the season I look for the Cadets to make their run.
West Point-Beemer has Boone Central/Newman Grove, Pender, and Howells-Dodge left in the regular season...all matches the Cadets should win.
I think a win over the Cardinals would be a good momentum booster and would be a big step in the right direction for West Point-Beemer.
I think if the Cadets can knock off Boone Central/Newman Grove they've got a good shot to win their other two matches to end the regular season too.
As a fan you would like to see West Point-Beemer win these last three regular season matches and give themselves a good chance to win their sub-district.
The Sub-District is wide open, and anyone can win it, and the Cadets have to be thinking "why not us"?
West Point-Beemer has to play optimistic Volleyball Tuesday night, and go out there like they know and believe they can win.
It has to be all business for West Point-Beemer from here on out.
We are at the point in the season where every match counts, and the Cadets need to win these last three in a big way.
Emotions run high and stakes are also high this time of year as well.
West Point-Beemer has to pick up their game raise their level of play over these next few matches.
It appears the Cadets may have gotten their struggles out of their system so hopefully these last three regular season matches treat West Point-Beemer well.
The Cadets have to go out there Tuesday night, take care of business, and play with authority.
West Point-Beemer has to leave no doubt, and take it to the Cardinals from start to finish.
The match has to go a lot better for the Cadets than the last time West Point-Beemer was on the Bull....the night when Norfolk Catholic swept the Cadets 3-0.
First serve is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on the Bull with pregame at 6:45.
