GACC 1-3 in last four matches

The Guardian Angels Central Catholic Volleyball Team is 1-3 in their last four matches, defeating Wisner-Pilger 2-1, but falling 2-0 to Lutheran High Northeast at the Lutheran High Northeast Triangular last Thursday night. The Bluejays lost 3-1 at Pierce on Tuesday and 3-2 at Crofton Thursday night.

GACC lost 25-21 in set one and 27-25 in set two to the Eagles.

Evelyn Wooldrik had 10 kills while Brooklyn Bailey registered 8. Sophia Hass and Ally Plagge notched 17 and 16 digs, respectively, while Meghan Brunsing had 12 digs and 13 set assists. Reece Snodgrass added 10 digs and 9 set assists while Hanna Knobbe and Erica Engelmeyer had 8 and 7 digs, respectively.

The Bluejays won set one over the Gators 25-22, and took set three 25-18 after dropping set two 25-19.

Hass compiled 16 kills and 31 digs while Wooldrik added 8 kills. Knobbe chipped in 23 digs while Plagge tallied 11. Brunsing chipped in 7 digs and 13 set assists while Snodgrass contributed 18 set assists.

GACC lost sets one and two to Pierce 25-23 before taking set three 25-22 and losing set four by the same score.

Engelmeyer led the way with 13 kills while Hass had 12 kills and 26 digs. Bailey added 12 kills while Wooldrik notched 10. Knobbe posted 33 digs while Snodgrass registered 16 digs and 33 set assists. Megan Plagge added 13 digs while Ally Plagge recorded 9.

The Bluejays took sets one and two 25-20 and 25-21 from the Warriors before Crofton won sets three, four, and five 25-12, 25-15, and 16-14, respectively.

A bunch of tough defeats for GACC. The Bluejays have been so close to breaking through, they just can't get over the hump.

GACC (8-11) takes on David City Aquinas (16-7) on the road Monday night.

The Monarchs won 2-1 over Centennial and 2-0 over David City at the Aquinas Triangular Thursday night.

Aquinas is a legit team this year, and figures to be tough for the Bluejays to handle.

I think GACC can go in there and give the Monarchs all they can handle though.

The Bluejays have come so close in recent matches, and GACC is due to break out and get over the hump one of these days.

I think GACC can win, but it won't be an easy task by any stretch of the imagination.

The Bluejays have to come out fired up and raring to go.

GACC has to use Thursday night's loss to Crofton as motivation and fuel to the fire Monday night.

The Bluejays were so close to beating the Warriors, and probably should of won that match.

All GACC can do now is turn things around and bounce back.

The Bluejays have two tough and difficult matches this week, but GACC can definitely win them.

The Bluejays want to be on top of their game and be playing their best Volleyball by the time the Mid-State Conference Tournament rolls around.

GACC has a lot of work to do before that time, but if the Bluejays could pick up a couple of wins next week it could serve as a big momentum booster for that tournament.

GACC is at Norfolk Catholic on Tuesday, and the Knights have really come on lately.

The Bluejays have their hands full next week, but I look for GACC to step up and play at a high level.

Hass and others have made great and big contributions offensively and defensively in recent matches, and the Bluejays have really picked up their play recently I think.

The thing for GACC next week is to get better and find a way to get over the hump and win.

Losing is never fun and easy, and the Bluejays aren't used to losing.

GACC has to go out there and correct their mistakes and come back a stronger team.
