Stanton sweeps Wayne

The Stanton Volleyball Team swept Wayne 3-0 at home Thursday night.

The Mustangs won sets one and two 25-17, and set three 25-21.

Bree Burtwhistle totaled 19 kills, 10 digs, and 21 set assists while Jessie Brandl notched 11 kills and 27 digs. Reba Waskowiak recorded 8 kills while Jaiden Hartl registered 20 digs. Makenna Espinoza had 12 digs and 18 set assists with Jasmine Kment adding 10 digs.

Very impressive win for a great team.

Stanton (18-1) takes on Howells-Dodge (13-5) on the road Tuesday night.

The Jaguars went 2-1 at the Clarkson/Leigh Invite on Saturday, defeating Cross County and Oakland-Craig 2-1, but losing 2-0 to David City Aquinas.

Howells-Dodge is a solid team who has done a lot of nice things this year, but the Mustangs are absolutely amazing.

Stanton has been nearly untouchable this year, and is one of the best teams in the state if not the best in C-2.

The Mustangs have a lot of talent and firepower, and it has been a lot of fun to see.

Players to watch out for for the Jaguars include Erin Prusa, Taya VanLengen, and Alyssa Coufal.

Howells-Dodge has a few stars, but Stanton has many stars.

The Mustangs are as good as they come, and figure to be very difficult to beat.

I think the Jaguars can compete against Stanton, but I fully expect the Mustangs to win.

Stanton should be able to sweep this match although some of the sets could be close with the match being at Howells-Dodge.

Plus these two programs know each other very well and it's always a good match when they get together.

The Mustangs have all but locked up the No. 1 seed in the East Husker Conference Tournament, but a win Tuesday night would guarantee it in my book.

I feel Stanton is the best team in the conference and in all of C-2, and as long as the Mustangs keep playing up to their potential they should continue to do great things.

Stanton is a great team, and we might be looking at the best team in school history.

There is so much left out there for the Mustangs to accomplish and achieve though, and so Stanton has to remain hungry and has to want more.

The Mustangs can't be complacent or satisfied with what they have done so far this season...Stanton has to keep the foot on the throttle and keep pressing and moving forward.

The goals have to be to win the Conference, Sub-Districts, a Sub-State match, and last but not least, another State Championship.
