Winnebago loses at Walthill

The Winnebago Indians suffered a setback last week, losing 3-2 at Walthill on Thursday.

The Blujays won set one 25-11 before Winnebago took set two 25-23. The Indians won set three 25-19 before dropping set four 25-22. Walthill won set five 16-14.

This was a major setback for Winnebago. The Indians had no business losing to the Blujays. It appears Winnebago simply had an off night.

Winnebago (1-4) hosts Ponca (2-1) and Allen (3-5) in a Triangular on Tuesday.

Ponca downed Randolph 3-0 in their lone match last week while the Eagles lost 3-1 at home to Wynot on Tuesday of last week before defeating Wausa 2-0 and losing 2-1 to Bloomfield at the Bloomfield Triangular on Thursday.

Both matches will be difficult for Winnebago.

Both Ponca and Allen have been very competitive this season, and Winnebago figures to not have an easy time against either team.

Winnebago definitely has to play much better than they did against Walthill. The Indians have to step up their game big time, and has to finish off opponents when they get the chance.

Winnebago should be excited, energized, and ready to go with the Triangular being on their home floor.

Winnebago has to defend their home court, and not let either Ponca or Allen steal any of their thunder or momentum.

Winnebago desperately needs to get things headed in the right direction. It's too early to hit the panic button, but the Indians need to perform well on Tuesday.

Winnebago has the Flandreau Tournament on Saturday so they need to have a good showing on Tuesday to build momentum for that tournament.

Winnebago is definitely capable of getting things turned around, but the Indians have to improve each week. I felt like Winnebago took a step backward from Week 1 to Week 2. We will see what the Indians can do this week.
