Scribner-Snyder finishes week 1-3
The Scribner-Snyder Trojans picked up their first win of the season last week, downing Bancroft-Rosalie 2-1 at the Scribner-Snyder Triangular on Thursday. The Trojans lost to Oakland-Craig 2-0 the same evening. Scribner-Snyder fell 2-0 to Cedar Bluffs and 2-1 to Howells-Dodge at the Cedar Bluffs Triangular on Tuesday.
Against the Wildcats, the Trojans lost set one 25-14 and set two 25-20.
The Jaguars won set one over Scribner-Snyder 25-5. The Trojans bounced back to win set two 25-21 before dropping set three 25-14.
Kaylee Boyle had 10 digs while Savanah Miller posted 9. Nicole Boyle notched 7.
The Knights took set one 25-10 and set two 25-10 from Scribner-Snyder.
In the Bancroft-Rosalie match, the Panthers won set one 25-19 before the Trojans rebounded to win set two 25-11 and set three 25-18.
Miller led the way with 12 kills and 12 digs. Kayle Boyle added 7 kills and 7 digs. Nicole Boyle totaled 7 digs and 16 assists.
Head Coach Shelly Schulenberg says her team executed better after the first set, and that helped lead to the win. "I told the girls after that first set they just have to eliminate the errors. We have to keep our intensity up, we have to play our game. And that's what they came out and did. So far several of our games our second set has been our best set. And we played well, and those are the sets we've been winning. In our third set we kind of faltered again, but they dug deep and knew they could win, and got it for us."
The Bancroft-Rosalie match was definitely a momentum booster for Scribner-Snyder. It didn't show in the Trojans' loss to Oakland-Craig, but it had to be a good feeling to finally notch a win this season.
Scribner-Snyder (1-8) hosts Clarkson/Leigh (1-2) on Tuesday.
The Patriots lost in five sets at home to Lyons-Decatur Northeast on Tuesday of last week.
Clarkson/Leigh has been competitive this season, but the Patriots are not unbeatable by any means.
If Scribner-Snyder comes out and plays their best match the Trojans could come away with the victory.
Scribner-Snyder has to get off to a good start.
The Trojans have to play well from the beginning of the match to the end of the match.
Scribner-Snyder can't afford to have any bad sets, and missed opportunities.
The Trojans have to take advantage of what's given to them, and roll with it.
There's not a lot of room for error for Scribner-Snyder. The Trojans have to play well if they want to win.
I think this match could easily come down to four or five sets. I would be surprised if it's a sweep one way or the other.
Scribner-Snyder has to play with confidence, and believe in their abilities.
The Trojans have Pender on Saturday so a win would be big for momentum purposes heading into that match.
Scribner-Snyder has to defend their home floor. The Trojans have to play with the mentality that no one is going to come in and beat them on their home floor.
