Clarkson/Leigh off to 1-1 start
The Clarkson/Leigh Patriots are off to a 1-1 start as they defeated Madison 2-0 at the Madison Triangular on Thursday, and lost 2-0 to Stanton.
In the Stanton match, the Mustangs won set one 25-16 and set two 25-12.
Maddie Cerv had 12 digs to pace Clarkson/Leigh.
The Patriots downed the Dragons 25-22 in set one, and 25-13 in set two.
Shelby Paprocki totaled 10 kills while Cerv had 10 digs. Kaitlyn Becher recorded 7 assists.
Clarkson/Leigh played fairly decent volleyball to start the season.
It was big for the Patriots to sweep Madison. Stanton is just an outstanding team.
Clarkson/Leigh (1-1) squares off with Lyons Decatur Northeast (0-1) at home on Tuesday.
The Cougars lost 3-2 at home to West Point-Beemer on Thursday, but appear to be a solid team.
The Patriots are going to have to step up and play well to get the job done. It won't be easy for Clarkson/Leigh to win.
It's a pretty even match if you ask me. Both teams have some quality players who are capable of going off at any given time.
It will be interesting to see who prevails on Tuesday. The Patriots are aided by the fact the match is on their home floor, but Lyons-Decatur Northeast is tough.
It's really a toss up match, in my opinion.
This is Clarkson/Leigh's only match of the week so they have to make the most of it.
The Patriots have to go out there and play to their potential. Clarkson/Leigh can't leave the floor wondering what if.
The Patriots have to do everything possible to win.
I look for this match to go at least four sets, if not five.
Things could very well come down to the final point or two. Every point of every set is critical. It all counts, and Clarkson/Leigh has to treat the entire match with heavy importance.
A win would be a huge step in the right direction for this program.
