Howells-Dodge 3-2 in last five matches

The Howells-Dodge Jaguars were up and down last week as they split at the Cedar Bluffs Triangular on Tuesday, defeating Scribner-Snyder 2-1, but losing 2-0 to the host Wildcats. Howells-Dodge went 2-1 at their own invite on Saturday, losing 2-1 to Shelby/Rising City, but defeating Elgin Public/Pope John and Burwell 2-0.

The Jaguars fell 25-23 in sets one and two to Cedar Bluffs.

Kalli Brester led the way with 8 kills and 10 digs while Mallory Rolf totaled 8 digs. Shelby Hegemann had 10 set assists while Tessa Brester chipped in 8.

Howells-Dodge downed the Trojans 25-5 in set one, lost set two 25-21, but rebounded to win set three 25-14.

Kalli Brester put down a match-high 13 kills. Hegemann registered 13 set assists while Tessa Brester dished out 11.

The Jaguars won set one over Shelby/Rising City 25-20, but lost set two 26-24, and set three 25-17.

Kalli Brester had a match-leading 17 kills and 13 digs. Rolf added 12 digs.

Howells-Dodge defeated the Wolfpack 25-13 in set one, and 25-17 in set two.

Kalli Brester posted a match-high 13 kills. Rolf chipped in 7 digs while Tessa Brester had 12 set assists. Hegemann chipped in 9 set assists.

The Jaguars beat the Longhorns 25-20 in set one, and 25-12 in set two.

Kalli Brester led all players with 10 kills while Hegemann and Tessa Brester recorded 8 and 7 set assists, respectively.

Howells-Dodge played ok volleyball last week, but the Jaguars definitely weren't as good as they were the first week of the season. Howells-Dodge was a little inconsistent last week, and needs to get back to form to win more.

The Jaguars (6-2) take on Wakefield (3-7) and Bancroft-Rosalie (6-6) at the Wakefield Triangular on Tuesday.

The host Trojans defeated Laurel-Concord-Coleridge 2-0 and Homer 2-1 at their own Tournament on Thursday before losing 2-0 to Stanton and Lutheran High Northeast on Saturday.

The Panthers fell 2-1 to Scribner-Snyder and 2-0 to Oakland-Craig at the Scribner-Snyder Triangular on Thursday before going 2-1 at the Cedar Bluffs Invitational on Saturday.

Bancroft-Rosalie beat Omaha Christian Academy and Humphrey St. Francis 2-0, but lost to Heartland 2-0.

Either team is capable of giving Howells-Dodge a run for their money.

The Jaguars have to come ready to play, and have to get back to doing the things that allowed them to have success the first week of the season.

Howells-Dodge has to be on top of their game on Tuesday. The Jaguars have to play up to their potential, and take care of business.

Howells-Dodge needs to win both matches for momentum purposes. These are the only two matches for the Jaguars this week so Howells-Dodge definitely wants to be on the winning side of things.

It's important for the Jaguars to take two steps forward on Tuesday. Howells-Dodge doesn't want to take a step or two backwards. The Jaguars want to keep building from here on out.

Both teams are going to be tough for Howells-Dodge to beat, but one has to figure the Jaguars have a good chance to sweep the Triangular. It all depends on which Howells-Dodge team shows up though.
