Oakland-Craig goes 4-1 in Northeast Nebraska Tournament

The Oakland-Craig Knights are off to a very respectable start as they went 4-1 in the Northeast Nebraska Tournament last week.

Oakland-Craig lost 2-1 to North Bend Central on Thursday before knocking off Allen 2-0 the same day. Oakland-Craig defeated Fremont Bergan, Wakefield, and Wayne 2-0 on Saturday.

Against the Tigers, the Knights won set one 25-13. North Bend Central bounced back to win sets two and three 25-11 and 25-22.

Oakland-Craig took care of the Eagles 25-17 in set one and 25-22 in set two.

The Knights defeated the Trojans 25-12 in the first set and 25-18 in the second set.

Oakland-Craig took out the Blue Devils 25-23 in set one and 25-10 in set two.

Oakland-Craig won set one over Bergan 25-22, and took set two 27-25.

Oakland-Craig played very impressive volleyball last week. The Knights played well against every team they played, and nearly went 5-0. The loss to North Bend Central was not a bad loss.

Oakland-Craig (4-1) battles Bancroft-Rosalie (4-3) and Scribner-Snyder (0-7) in the Scribner-Snyder Triangular on Thursday.

The Panthers beat Winside 2-1 and Walthill 2-0 at the Walthill Triangular on Tuesday.

The Trojans lost 2-1 to Howells-Dodge and 2-0 to Cedar Bluffs at the Cedar Bluffs Triangular on Tuesday.

Both teams will present different challenges for the Knights, but there's no reason to think Oakland-Craig won't win both matches.

The Knights are at a disadvantage in a way against Scribner-Snyder in that the match is on the Trojans' home floor, and Bancroft-Rosalie has come along nicely to start the season.

Oakland-Craig could very well get challenged in both matches, but I look for the Knights to beat both opponents.

I wouldn't be surprised if Oakland-Craig made quick work of and swept both teams.

I think both opponents are capable of pushing the Knights to a third set, but Oakland-Craig should prevail in both matches.

These matches are the Knights' only matches of the week so Oakland-Craig has to make the most of them. The Knights have to come out sharp, and play intense, focused, and outstanding volleyball.

Oakland-Craig has to continue to do the things that made them successful the first week of the season. If the Knights play like they did in the Northeast Nebraska Tournament, they should be able to take both matches on Thursday.

Catch all three triangular matches on 107.9 the Bull. The action starts at 5:30 p.m.
